*ahem* Anyways, I whole-heartedly agree with all that has been said. A NEW MODERATOR IS NECESSARY. I don't care what anyone else says. IT IS NECESSARY. There is no way this forum is going to function with a semi-active admin and a comes on once every two weeks global mod. We need another one. New members need someone in control. They need to know what they're doing wrong and they probably won't be affected by it if it's just a regular member telling them this. They need someone of authority to point it out. I'd throw my hat into the ring: I'm a moderator at the best Mario Forums there is (if you google "mario forums" we're the first one that comes up, so join) so I have experience. I don't go on banning sprees because I have power. I just point out mistakes and correct them if they are too monumental to be ignored.

Especially over the summer, forums end up getting a whole bunch of kids who don't know what they're doing. We need someone to take care of that.

Anyways, Anthony, you seriously need to read back what you post in your head before you hit Submit. Most of the stuff is illegible and/or stupid and worthless. I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just saying think twice before you post.

tl;dr: Join this sexy haven of a forum and we need a new mod.

I think we can keep these guys in control, personally. If we are patient enough eventually new members will realize. Dish's new members thread is a great place to direct new people to. I read it just before I joined. About the mod, I just wouldn't get my hopes up.

Yeah, it seems like the whole "Do we need a mod" debate sounds like what I've been seeing in the debate over how to play Detroit Tigers rookie CF Quintin Berry. There's people on one side or the other, and not a whole lot of people in the middle.

Mac, is this not exactly what we all do as regular members? A lot of the experienced members (you, me, Dish, PPFan, etc.) seem to carry some authority just for how how long they've been around and how active they've been. Heck, sjax could make one post regarding a conflict and everyone would automatically see his point. Sure, having a mod guiding you on what to do is more effective than a normal user, but a bunch of old, experienced users seems to be working pretty well, too. As long as someone isn't deliberately trying to muck up the forums, we've got members who've taken charge (the ones who have been frequently nominated for moderators) and shown they can steer new users the right way without being mods. And if someone does want to purposely screw with us, DS and (occasionally) Max can be contacted to deal with it pretty quickly. We don't have that problem often, so it's not like we'd be bugging them all the time.

Fair enough. I suppose I could always take them to the shed if they get on my nerves.

But seriously, does it say ANYWHERE in the first page of that guide about double posting, and bumping, and whatnot?

No. It doesn't.

It needs to. That's the problem nowadays. Not spam, but the fact that our new members come in with no FULL guide to direct them. Dish's guide is great for those who know said DP/all-smiley/bump rules and/or assume such as bad, but there's no "Hey, btw, don't post twice in a row, or with all smileys, and try to actually think your post through and make a good post."

Also is there ANY Power Pros discussion on this forum anymore, other than season logs and Success players?

EDIT: They need to play Berry a lot, and I'm on whichever side makes the strongest argument.

I'll go edit that stuff in in a little bit, then. Why didn't I think to put it in there earlier?

What is Berry? Although I'm guessing it's something really simple and I'm just not understanding it

I agree with most of this, except for the mod thing. I'm with mac there. Dish has my full support for the job. Not like it matters, as I too doubt we will get one.

How likely is it to get 1 star trades to work in season mode of MLBPP '08? I really need to make some trades, but like I already mentioned, virtually every player is impossible to get for no good reason. Offering 3 of the best players in the world and almost 300000 points should be a 5 star success rate no matter who I'm trying to get, instead, every player I look at is a 1 star success rate no matter who or what is on both sides of the trade.
