The only Success players on my team at the moment are Matfey and Fireballer. I kind of wish I would have taken Luke Johnson at the draft but I knew my team was good enough already, still though, a guy who can have 8 shutouts and 14 quality starts in just 15 starts total...

I don't even know if I'll take any Success players in the draft next year, the team seems like it's more than good enough already. To finish 1 game behind first in the MLB and make the World Series on a 7-0 run.

Along with the Success players, the other players that weren't edited are guys like Hideo Nomo, Corey Hart, Fernando Hernandez and Condrey, as well as that catcher I got in the draft who continues to be the only player I have in AAA.

Bowser and King Boo stars in Superstars victory over Yankees in Game One:

Bowser knocked in the first run with a single in the first inning to give the Superstars the 1-0 lead. Bowser's next at bat was in the third inning with a runner on and he crushed a home run to give them insurance with a 3-0 lead. Luigi drove in a run with a single in the 4th inning to make it 4-0 Superstars. King Boo pitched a masterful performance, but ran into trouble in the 6th inning, with 2 outs, runners on second and third, Alex Rodriguez, who drove in 22 runs in 7 playoff games with an average of around .450 to this point, was at the plate. King Boo did the only sensible thing and intentionally walked him to load the bases, he then faced Jason Giambi with the bases loaded in a 4 run game, he had the power to get it done, but he had an average under .200 to that point, and couldn't raise it as he flew out to center field to end the inning. Bowser hit another home run in the 8th inning, the distance was gone without a doubt but the ball was just barely fair as he extended the lead to 5-0. King Boo ran into some more trouble in the bottom of the 8th, but got out of it allowing only a sacrifice fly to Abreu to keep the 5-1 lead in tact. No runs would come to score in the 9th as King Boo finished off the complete game win with a final score of 5-1. Bowser drove in 4 of the Superstars 5 runs in the game. The Superstars now lead the Yankees in the World Series 1 game to 0.

Matfey's a success player. I've posted his PW in the 2008 PW Exchange forum.

He has G control there, however.

Yankees offensive struggles continue as they fall behind with another loss:

In a game that wasn't even close ultimately, the Superstars went ahead two games to 0 in the series and are another good win away from putting the series out of sight of anything but a historic comeback. Diddy Kong pitched a complete game, allowing just 1 run, Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees biggest threat, has yet to have a single hit in this series. The Superstars put up 9 runs in total against the Yankees poor pitching, highlighted by home runs by Donkey Kong, Bowser, and even a 2 run home run by Daisy. Yoshi was 4-6 with 4 infield hits and an RBI groundout, both his outs could have easily been hits for him if there weren't force plays at second, almost anything that touches the ground is a hit with Yoshi's speed. Corey Hart, playing DH over Hammer Bro because of motivational problems, was 2-5 with a couple RBIs. With this 9-1 win, the Superstars have a 2-0 series lead to take back home with them for games 3, 4, and possibly 5.

Matfey throws the Superstars 3rd straight complete game in another solid victory, giving the Superstars a 3-0 stranglehold on the series:

At this point it's a serious question if the Superstars bullpen will even make a World Series appearance, as Matfey threw a complete game as well, as every other game has been this series. Matfey hit a double in the third inning, and was later replaced at second by Yoshi without scoring, he simply made a bad baserunning mistake. Luigi would drive in Yoshi with a double to give the Superstars the 1-0 lead, which looked pretty good based on how the Yankees offense has been doing. Luigi would drive in the rest of the Superstars' runs as well, hitting a 2 run home run in the 5th inning, scoring Yoshi and himself to give the team a 3-0 lead. Matfey pitched an amazing game, giving up a solo home run to Alex Rodriguez (his only hit of the series) after throwing 2 straight mistake pitches down the middle to make it a 3-1 game in the 7th inning. Matfey would hold the game there and end it in the 9th with a double play ball, giving the Superstars another win. Pettitte got the loss for the Yankees, giving up 3 runs in 7 innings.

"This has just been an amazing series for the whole team, actually, it's been an amazing whole playoff run, we're 10-0 in these playoffs so far. Can you imagine going undefeated to win the World Series? Just winning it is already more than amazing for us. I'm telling the team not to celebrate the win until we get all 4 games over with, but to be honest I've already started planning a surprise party for the team set to happen right after the last game."

Ha, the bullpen was barely used in my World Series against the Yankees and I actually had one of the announcers predict that the Stranglers key to winning would be not facing Joba Chamberlain or Mo Rivera. In a seven game series, they threw three innings combined.

Yankees offense wakes up to blow out the Superstars:

The Yankees offense did everything it needed to get them back in the series, it seemed like every ball they hit was dropping in somewhere, as they managed a total 14 runs, including 4 home runs, compared to the Superstars 5 run total. The Yankees had a 6-2 lead early on, and the Superstars fought back with a run or two an inning until they were only trailing 6-5 in the 7th inning. Fireballer was brought in to pitch the 8th inning and the whole game absolutely blew up on him, as the Yankees scored 7 runs earned off of him in just 1 inning of work, putting the game out of reach, they scored another off of Nomo to make it an even 14. Mussina got the win for the Yankees, Waluigi took the loss. Superstars had home runs by Luigi and Bowser. Yankees had a couple home runs from Rodriguez (his first hit last game really woke him up), a home run by Cano, and even one by Giambi, a sub .150 hitter with his first hit in the series.

"I really hate that article's title, it's just absolute crap. I don't think the writer even watched the game. Did their offense wake up? Okay, maybe a little, but it's our defense falling asleep that put the game out of reach, so many plays that were routine for us dropped in, or were just flat out missed. Worthless singles turned to run scoring doubles and much more ridiculous mistakes were what cost us this game. If our fielding was as good as it has been all year, I doubt they score more than 4 on us. Yeah, they definitely woke up, that's a big difference.
****in' idiots..."

The Superstars manager was clearly more than a little upset at this loss, his team still leads the series 3 games to 1.

No relief for Superstars in terrible loss:

The game could easily be called a pitcher's duel, the Yankees had the 2-0 lead while Phil Hughes pitched 5 perfect innings. In the 6th inning, Hughes gave up his first hit and run on a triple and single, but allowed nothing more to preserve the 2-1 lead. Wario pitched surprisingly well, allowing just the 2 runs in 6 innings to take the loss. Toadsworth was later put in as a relief pitcher, and despite several horrible scares, allowed no runs in 2 innings. Hernandez was brought in for the 9th because of the lack of depth of the Superstars bullpen, the game was over as soon as he was called on, he allowed a no-doubt home run to Rodriguez almost immediately, the fielders gave up on the game right there, and them blowing routine outs resulted in another couple runs given up. The Superstars were down 5-1 in the 9th, instead of being down 2-1 like they were previously. Donkey Kong hit a home run to make it 5-2 but nobody else managed to do anything. Superstars hitting was horrendous this game, among those hitless were Yoshi (yes, Yoshi, this isn't a typo, YOSHI went hitless this game), Luigi, Bowser, Peach, and Daisy. Hughes pitched a complete game for the win, Wario got the loss, home runs were hit by Donkey Kong, Rodriguez, Giambi, and Cano.

The teams will be headed back to New York now for Game 6, and if necessary, Game 7 as well.

The media attempted to interview the manager of the Superstars after this game, they couldn't get a word out of him, and it looked like it took him great restraint to not punch out one of the reporters before he stormed away.

Game 6 starters are rumored to be King Boo for the Superstars and Pavano for the Yankees.

Daisy in consideration for World Series MVP after Superstars World Series victory:

The Superstars have done it, it took them six games and they had to fend off the Yankees after a mild scare when they went up 3-0 only for the Yankees to make it 3-2, but they have won the World Series! Donkey Kong hit them a 2 run home run in the first inning to get things started with a 2-0 lead. The Yankees fought back to take the lead on King Boo's pitching, scoring 1 in the first, 1 in the 4th, and 2 in the 5th after a mistake pitch gave Giambi a 2 run home run after intentionally walking Rodriguez for the second time in the game. With the Yankees up 4-2, the Superstars looked to at least tie up the game, they got the couple runners they needed, and Daisy stepped up to the plate with two outs, watched a couple pitches go by, and then crushed a 3 run home run to the opposite field to give the Superstars the 5-4 lead in the game. That was all they would need as King Boo pitched 7 innings allowing only the 4 runs, Fireballer pitched an inning for the hold, and Boo pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to give the Superstars their biggest win in their short history. Luigi and Yoshi were both hitless again, but that meant nothing in the grand scheme of things.

"It really is an amazing feeling, I mean, I was never worried about the Yankees coming back, don't be ridiculous, but to finally get that 4th win and make things official... It's the best feeling in the world, nothing can describe it. The rest of the league better watch out, because after getting a taste of this feeling, I don't think our players are ever going to give it up to anybody else."

Superstars manager was finally able to be reached for a short comment after his team won the World Series.

Wow if he had the Hank Aaron award, Yoshi would have had a clean sweep of all fielder awards! Pretty good rookie season I'd say.
