Melonheads Win High-Powered Game
Crazy All-Stars(4-3) - 6
Humongous Melonheads(6-1) - 9

With Kenny Kawaguchi on the mound, there was an auspicious buzz about Parks Dept. Field #2 today. Already 3-0 on the season, expectations were high for the Melonhead ace, but those expectations were unfortunately not met.

The top of the first inning began with a leadoff single by All-Star Bret Olsen, but Kawaguchi struck out Vic Soufle on three pitches and forced Heather Quinn to hit into a double play, thus ending the inning. Not to let down their pitcher, the Melonheads offense busted out of the gate with a four-run 1st that was highlighted by a two-run homer off the bat of Tony Delvecchio.

The Melonheads kept it going in the second inning with a two-run home run, courtesy of Pablo Sanchez, but the top of the fourth presented the roughest inning of Kenny Kawaguchi's season: Three home runs resulting in five runs brought the score to 6-5.

After cruising through the 5th, Kenny allowed a solo shot in the top of the 6th with one out, tying the game at 6. He was replaced with Dante Robinson, who retired the next two batters, ending the inning.

With the game still tied in the bottom of the 8th and Pablo Sanchez on first with two outs, Achmed Khan slapped a line drive into the right-center gap, pulling into second with a double and allowing Pablo to score all the way from first. Just for good measure, Amir Khan, drilled a low, screaming home run just over the right field wall, bringing the Melonhead lead to 3 heading into the 9th inning.

With Pablo Sanchez in a starting role, Amir Khan was brought in to close it out, and he did so in 1-2-3 fashion, striking out two and finishing up the Melonheads' 6th win.

This is a really good log, but the points definitely seem to favor pitchers

Yes, especially Pablo, who is also an incredible hitter. I may need to find another pitcher that is a worse hitter so Pablo doesn't get as many innings. That wouldn't be until next season though.

What? You can't cut his innings because he is too good.

What's his point total? I can't read it way down there from the top of the leader board. :ohsnap:

3-Run 7th Propels Melonheads to 6th Straight Victory
Blue Rockets(3-5) - 4
Humongous Melonheads(7-1) - 7

Pablo Sanchez struggled in his start today, allowing 4 runs over 5.1 innings of work, and left the game in line for the loss. Thankfully, though, in the bottom of the 6th, Achmed Khan tied things up with a solo home run. After Pete Wheeler shut down the Rockets in the 7th, the Melonheads offense went to work, scoring three runs on five hits in the inning. Pete Wheeler continued to dominate the Rocket hitters through the 8th inning, picking up the win, and Amir Khan made quick work of the 3-4-5 hitters in the 9th, earning the save. Kiesha Phillips was voted player of the game and went 3 for 4 including a 1st inning 3-run homer (her first of the season).

The 2nd-place Junior Monsters won today and remain 1 game back from the Melonheads, who will face off against the Red Bombers in their next match-up.
