Who were the two guys that got kicked off the team? Is it Matt Morris? And who is Cooper Thompson?

Morris is basically off the team (he's in AAA the rest of the season), Cooper Thompson is the GM, and Jason Stark is the coach (suspended the rest of the season)

Pittsburgh Pirates (47-68) @ Philadelphia Phillies (51-63)
August 8, 2008

Bay Does it Again!

Jason Bay has hit for the cycle once again this season! He hit an RBI double in the first, a triple in the second (granted it was because Sanchez was thrown out at home), a home run in the fourth, and a single in the sixth. This is only the fourth time in Major League history, and first in seventy-five years, that a player has hit for the cycle twice in the same season. But what was maybe even more shocking was the fact that Nady and McCann hit back-to-back homers three times! They did it in the first, the sixth, and the ninth. McCann is showing to be a great addition to the team, and Nady shows that he deserves to start somewhere next season despite the fact that Stanton looks poised to take over in right field.

Final Score
Pirates: 22
Phillies: 14

W: Snell (9-5)
SV: ---
L: Moriarty (2-3)

That's what I want to know. CPU pitching is on Powerful, so I guess the next step is decreasing the Lock-On. It's currently on two

New York Mets (82-39) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (51-70)

Pirates Walk-Off Against Mets

The Pirates extended their winning streak to three games by pulling a come from behind win against the league best Mets. It was a pitching duel up until the seventh, as both starters had given up only one run and a handful of hits. In the top of the inning Duke gave up three hits to load the bases until Dickey relieved him. Dickey got two outs before giving up a bases clearing double to Carlos Beltran to give the Mets a three-run lead. Now fast forwarding to the bottom of the ninth, starter Orlando Hernandez got a quick strikeout to Sanchez to begin the inning. But then Bay hit a bloop single to rightt-center before LaRoche crushed a mistake pitch into the left field bleachers to put the Pirates within one. After Nady hit a hard grounder up the middle for a hit, Scott Schoeneweis came in to face McCann. Despite being a top tier reliever so far this season, McCann won the battle by smacking a RBI triple into deep center to tie the game up! And with only one out and a runner on third, all Olivo had to do was hit a sacrifice fly to right to win the game.

Final Score
Mets: 4
Pirates: 5

Gordon feels he can perform at a level capable of starting.
Capps feels dejected.

And why would Capps feel dejected?

Pittsburgh Pirates (55-72) @ Milwaukee Brewers (66-62)
August 22, 2008

Brewers Struggle Against Pirates

While you could view that the outcome of last nights game could have due to the excellence of Pittsburgh, when you watched it you knew there was something wrong with the Brewers. Their hitting was stagnant, going scoreless off of Morrow. And while they did hit four straight homeruns in the eighth, that's because there's no mercy rule in the MLB and the game had to go the full nine innings. And that goes into the next thing, their pitching was downright atrocious. They were decent until the sixth, only giving up two runs by that point. But then all Hell broke loose. The Pirates hit a barrage of singles until McCann blasted a two-run homer to left. Later in the inning, Bay hit a bases clearing triple to knock Kason Gabbard out of the game. A few batters later, McLouth hit a double to score Morrow from first, even though Morrow would have been out by a mile if Rickie Weeks had thrown the ball. Which brings up the last point, which was the stupid defense. They were letting balls go right by them, waiting to throw to first which let multiple runners achieve infield hits, and they dove at unnecessary times that would turn routine groundouts into easy doubles.

Final Score
Pirates: 12
Brewers: 4

W: Morrow (8-5)
SV: ---
L: Gabbard (10-4)
HR: McCann (22), Weeks (23), Hardy (21), Braun (33), Fielder (24)

1. McLouth: 3-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R, SB
2. Sanchez: 3-5, 3B, RBI, 2 R
3. Bay: 3-5, 3B, 4 RBI, 2 R
4. LaRoche: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R
5. Nady: 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R
6. McCann: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, R
7. Olivo: 2-5, 2B
8. Wilson: 1-5, R
9. Morrow: 1-3, 2 R
9a. Grabow: ---
9b. Marte: ---

Morrow: 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 7 K
Grabow: 1 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 0 K
Marte: 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K

August 2008

The Pirates had their best month of the season, going 14-13 and having a month above .500 for the first time this season. Their run differential was +27, yet the Pirates are still the second worst team in baseball, only better than the Nationals.

If the Season Ended Today...
Playoffs
AL: Yankees vs. Athletics, Tigers vs. Blue Jays (WC). White Sox and Indians are also contenders.
NL: Mets vs. Rockies (WC), Diamondbacks vs Brewers. Braves, Astros, and Reds are also contenders.

Draft Order
1. Nationals, 2. Pirates, 3. Twins, 4. Phillies, 5. Rays
6. Royals, 7. Cardinals, 8. Orioles, T9. Rangers, T9. Angels
