Stranglers Beat Phillies in Extras 10-6

The Stranglers were facing their in-state rivals today with Yu Darvish on the mound facing Sawada for the Phillies.

In the first inning, Pablo Sanchez and Ringo Starr hit singles to make it first and second with no outs. Kennedy then blasted a double to left-center field to drive in two runs to make the game 2-0. In the next inning, Keith Richards hit a solo shot into Ashburn Alley to make it 3-0. It didn't take long for the Stranglers to hit another one into the bleachers making it 4-0 with a Chris Kennedy solo shot. That homer gave Kennedy the league lead and a one homer edge in the tight home run race with teammate Ryan Howard.

In the bottom of the fourth, Geoff Jenkins beat up on a Yu Darvish fastball making it 4-1. Yu didn't run into real trouble until the sixth. Victorino and Utley both got on base and Pat Burrell followed by hitting a double bringing home two. The score was now 4-3.

The Stranglers got another with a singles rally in the 7th making it 5-3. It did not stay that way for long when Geoff Jenkins hit another home run, this time, to tie the game. The see-saw kept going when Mick Jagger hit a solo shot making it 6-5.

Brian Wilson came in and, after getting Victorino out, allowed a homer to Chase Utley tying the game at six.

The game stayed tied until the 11th inning. The Stranglers loaded up the bases against Tom Gordon. The Phillies to Gordon out and put Clay Condrey in. This did nothing as Kennedy blasted a grand slam that would prove to win the ball game.

WP: Brian Wilson
LP: Clay Condrey
MVP: Kennedy

NL Ousts AL in All-Star Game; Take Home-Field Advantage

The National League won for the second year in a row in the All-Star game. Paul McCartney started against Mark Buerlhe.

Paul pitched two scoreless innings completely baffling the AL with his curve and knuckleball. The NL got to Buerlhe in the second with two singles by Alfonso Soriano and Adam Dunn. Two batters later, Pablo Sanchez drove Soriano home.

Yu Darvish came in to pitch the third inning. He immediately gave up a solo home run to Manny Ramirez. The next batter was Casey Blake. Blake singled and Carlos Beltran stepped up and hit a two run shot making it 3-1 AL.

The AL made it 4-1 with Derek Jeter and Beltran both doubling off of Joe Nathan in the fourth. In the fifth Charlie Brown shut down the AL. Chris Kennedy and Ryan Howard hit back to back home runs in the bottom of the fifth making the game 4-3 AL. The NL loaded up the bases with David Wright, Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn all reaching base. Mick Jagger then stepped up to the plate and singled driving in two runs to take the lead.

The NL added insurance with Ringo Starr driving in Jagger making the game 6-4. In the seventh, Tim Hudson came in to pitch and gave up a home run to Grady Sizemore. That made the game 6-5.

The NL added another run with Griffey and Chipper Jones both reaching base and Mick Jagger knocking another run in to make it 7-5.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kennedy hit his second home run of the game making it 9-5.

Ryan Dempster gave up a run on Derek Jeter and Manny Ramirez hitting back-to-back doubles. Brian Wilson then came on to get the save.

Paul McCartney Goes 8.1 No-Hit Innings: No-No Broken Up By Cheap Hit

Paul McCartney pitched an absolute gem today. It was tough seeing him not pull off the no-hitter. Dan Haren pitched great for the D-Backs. There was not much action the only run came in the 7th inning.

Ringo Starr got on with a single. Chris Kennedy followed that up with a single of his own and Starr moved to third. Ryan Howard hit into a double play, but Starr was able to score.

The only hit for the Diamondbacks came in the bottom of the ninth inning. Dan Johnson stepped up to the plate. Paul had already thrown 17 strikeouts. Dan Johnson kept fouling of pitches and with one out he hit a cheap one off the end of the bat and the ball landed in no man's land, just fair. Paul easily finished off the shutout, but there was the feeling that an amazing opportunity slip.

Dennis O' Bell was able to catch up with Paul after the game:
"I'm pissed. I can't believe that cheap hit dropped in. It sucks. A lot. Those kind of cheap ass hits annoy me any day, but to break up a no-no? Damn."

Paul was clearly upset.

In other news, the Stranglers finished off the two game sweep of the Diamondbacks after winning 9-6 the other day. Mussina got his sixth win of the season while Wilson got his 25th save.

We'll keep you posted!

Stranglers Shut Out Opponent Again, Beat Rockies 5-0

Yu Darvish has made it a habit this year to follow up Paul's gems witha great game of his own. That was the case today. Ubaldo Jimenez was going for the Rockies.

The Stranglers got on board in the top of the fourth. Kennedy singled and stole second. Mick Jagger was up and the hit and run was on. Kennedy scored easily. John Lennon stepped up and. Lasted a long drive to one of the deepest parts of the park, but only got a ground rule double. The Rockies caught a real break. They would get no such break with Leith Richards. Richards also doubled scoring Jagger and Lennon making it 3-0.

In the next inning, Ubaldo let a pitch hang and Starr blasted the pitch to dead center field for a home run.

Yu kept pitching great. The game was pretty much over when, in the eighth, Ryan Howard hit his 32nd homer of the year making it 5-0.

Darvish allowed a triple in the ninth, but stranded him there as he struck out the side. Darvish went nine innings allowing no runs and striking out 15.

WP: Yu Darvish 9-2
LP: Ubaldo Jimenez 7-8
MVPs: Darvish and Jagger

Other News: The Stranglers have acquired Jordan Tata and DiNardo in a trade with the diamond backs sending Mike Mussina.

Are McLeary and Gaddaba taken? If I can have 'em, here's what they say:
McLeary: Tut, tut! I shall attend. Does a sword count as a present?
Gaddaba: I not believe that you would not be making party yourselves. I save you!

That's a no too. I'm holding out hope that berkman will come back. He portrayed Abuela and Pepper amazingly. That will have to go for PPJ's clients also, he has Howard and McCartney.
