Wednesday, March 28

Gotta love hump day, we're halfway through the week!
Today in school we have an assembly talking about the dangers of climate change.
I found it pretty interesting actually, what was the name again?
Something... Like... Um... ACE, that's it.
The ACE assembly.
Apparently, they go across the country and do these same things.

Thursday, March 29

School was uneventful today, save for the fact that I worked in a group with Ashley Burns, who I, admittedly, have a slight obsession over.
You know, it's whatever.

Practice was held back until 3:30, and would be inside, due to the rain again.
School ends at 2, so I have an hour and a half to kill.

What should I do?
A. Go home, and then come back to school at 3:30
B. Stay in school the whole time

I decided that it would be best to go home, and then come back to school at 3:30.
Hopefully my mom was home to give me a ride there.

She was.
Phew.
Anyways, when I got home at 2, I decided to do some of my homework, eat a little bit, and watch a little TV.
It was 3:15, and I changed into my sweatpants, a t-shirt, grabbed my running shoes, my glove, my batting gloves, and asked my mom for a ride.
"I'm sorry sweetie, but I can't right now. I've got a very important call coming in from my boss anytime now." she told me
I looked at her in disbelief. "B-but... Practice?"
"Can't you ask one of your friends for a ride?"
"Oh, right."

So, I pulled out my phone, and pondered, who should I call?

Who did I call?
A. Jack
B. Lawrence
C. William
D. Michael
(this may or may not introduce a friendship system, so yeah)

I decided to call Lawrence.
I dialed his number.
"Hello?" he said
"Hey Lawrence, can I get a ride to practice?" I asked
"Ooh... Sorry man, I just stayed at school, I had to make up a math test anyways, so... Yeah... Sorry..."
"Oh, no problem, it's fine. I'll see you at practice then, hopefully."

I hung up
"Crap."

Who should I call now?
A. Jack
B. William
C. Michael

Michael was my next option.
I called him.
"Bryan?" he said as he picked up
"Hey Micheal, can I get a ride to practice?"
"Uh... I'm actually looking for one myself, I thought my dad would be home. Buuuuuut, he isn't..."
"Well, at least neither of us is alone!"
"I suppose. Who else is there?"
"Let's see, how about...

What did I say?
A. Jack
B. William

"...Jack?"
"Yeah, call him up, and call me back with the news."
"Alright, I'll call you back in a second Mike."
"Yep."

I hung up with Michael, and called Jack.
"Jack?!" I said right when he picked up, before he even got a chance to say anything
"Jesus, what?" He replied
"Please, can Michael and I get a ride to practice?"
"Dude, William's giving me a ride, you know, LIKE USUAL."
"Oh, right. He isn't there yet is he?"
"Uh... Hold on, let me check... He's actually pulling up now, good timing!"
"Oh, sweet, ask him if Michael and I can get rides."
"Alright, hold on."
I held on
"Yeah, he said fine." Jack said
"Sweet! I've gotta go now, I'll tell Michael."
"Okay, bye."

I hung up, called Michael back, and waited for William to come.
When he did, I said bye to my mom, who was now on her super important call, and walked out the door.

I got in the car, we went to go pick up Michael, and all was good.
We made it to practice on time and everything!

"Okay boys, light practice today, just some tee stuff and then 10 pitches in the cage, and then we're done!" Coach said
Excellent, I thought to myself

Practice flew by, until it was my turn in the cages.
"Murphy, you're gonna get 5 fastballs, and 5 breaking balls, they'll be random, so be on your guard."

What's my course of action?
A. Swing indiscriminately
B. Watch each pitch and hope for the best
C. Swing at only the fastballs
D. Swing at only the breaking balls
(I'll only be adding the (+, -) if it's known from now on)

I decided to watch each pitch, and hope for the best.

First pitch, a fastball. I hit a nice line drive right back up the middle (+3)
Second pitch, a fastball. Completely whiffed (-1)
Third pitch, a slider. Fouled it off (--)
Fourth pitch, a curveball. Pulled it for a grounder (+1)
Fifth pitch, a fastball. Cranked it to the opposite side (+3)
Sixth pitch, a cutter, or something. Didn't even swing (-2)
Seventh pitch, a fastball. Hit it right back up the middle again, but as a grounder (+1)
Eighth pitch, a changeup. Swung way too early (-2)
Ninth pitch, a slider again. Fouled it off (--)
Tenth pitch, a fastball. Smacked it up the middle (+3)
Total net growth: (+5)

"Not bad Murphy, work on hitting those breaking pitches, and you'll be a mighty fine hitter." Coach said to me afterwards

Awesome.

Lawrence went after me, and proceeded to hit all 10...
Then Jack went, and did the same...
William was last, and he smashed 8 of them, but hit a dinky grounder on one, and missed on his last one.

I think I did alright.

I went home, showered, ate, finished up my homework, futzed around on the internet, and then went to sleep at 11.

Friday, March 30

Finally, Friday.
TGIF, amirite?

Anyways, nothing really happened in school, and once again, practice was indoors thanks to another crappy day weather-wise.

This time though, I decided to stay at school, and not repeat what happened yesterday.
Today's practice was scheduled at 4 today, since the softball team also had practice today.

I had 2 hours to kill, what did I do?
A. Nothing
B. Homework
C. Homework
D. Walk around
