The game started at 7:05 sharp. We were in the field first and had a 1-2-3 inning. The entire first 6 innings were very uneventful as only 4 batters reached base (their pitcher, Matt Crawford, allowed 2 hits and intentionally walked Pete, and Peter gave up a triple to their right fielder, Dustin Ingram). In the top of the 7th Pete crushed a ball to the left-field corner that most people would have gotten a double or maybe even a triple on, but Pete only got to first. Coach said, "Michaels!" I looked up at him. "Go run for Pete, will you?" I grabbed a helmet and headed out onto the field. I told Pete, "Pinch-runner," and took a lead at first. Roy hit the first pitch straight to the first baseman. He bobbled it and then ran, albeit slowly, over to first and beat Roy by half a step. Mike was the next batter and he hit a bloop single just over the second baseman's head. The second baseman turned around and reached for the ball just as I hit third base.
