Turnovers, Portis Provide Knights With Much-Needed Win
Detroit Lions(9-5) - 21
Nevada Knights(6-8) - 24

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter
(DET) Jahvid Best 55 yard run for a TOUCHDOWN(0:58)

2nd Quarter
(NEV) Ellis Hobbs returns an interception 57 yards for a TOUCHDOWN(3:34)
(DET) Jahvid Best runs in for a 27 yard TOUCHDOWN(0:21)

3rd Quarter
(NEV) Clinton Portis runs in for a 5 yard TOUCHDOWN(9:56)
(NEV) Clinton Portis runs it in from the 17 for a TOUCHDOWN(7:57)
(DET) Jahvid Best recieves a pass from Matthew Stafford for a TOUCHDOWN (1:08)

4th Quarter
(NEV) John Carney 44 yard field goal is GOOD(2:05)

In a game where rushing accounted for over two-thirds of the total offense by both teams, Clinton Portis and the Nevada Knights prevailed, 24 to 21, over the heavily favored Detroit Lions, despite suffering injuries to team leaders Kevin Faulk and Joey Galloway. Colin Kaepernick threw 3 interceptions, but Matt Stafford matched him in that category and also fumbled, topped off by a Jahvid Best fumble in the 4th quarter. Mike Kafka eventually replaced Colin but only threw 1 pass, one that he completed for a key first down on what would turn out to be the game winning drive.

We spoke with Tom McAllister after the game, and he had this to say:
"I'm happy with Clinton Portis' return, especially since Faulk will be out for the rest of the season with his broken collarbone, but I feel we may have to take action at the quarterback position. Regardless, it's good to win a game like that and to see Portis return to his old form. I'm excited about these last two games and I'm sure the players are, too."

Kafka Named Starter
December 22nd, 2011

Las Vegas, Nevada - Team spokesperson Andrew Lint, on behalf of GM Tom McAllister, has announced that Mike Kafka will replace Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback for Saturday's game. "Although Colin Kaepernick is a good quarterback and, potentially, the face of the franchise in a few year's time, we feel that, given his recent performance, it's better for the team to give Mike Kafka a shot as the starter."

Technically, yes, but realistically, no.

(NEV) Will Blackmon returns the kickoff 101 yards for a TOUCHDOWN (0:10)

The Knights won by more than two possessions for the first time Saturday, slaughtering the Kansas City Chiefs, at Arrowhead, by a score of 48-21. Clinton Portis had his second consecutive 100 yard rushing game, and Mike Kafka proved himself to be a promising young quarterback. Will Blackmon continues to have a monster season returning, racking up his third touchdown doing so.

Despite their greatest collective game in this short franchise's history, the Nevada Knights were eliminated from playoff contention, thanks to wins by the 8-7 Browns and by the now 9-6 Colts and Titans.

"It's been a great inaugural season," said rookie running back Noel Devine, who scored for the first time in the game against the Chiefs, "and I'm excited about the future of this team. I'm thankful to work around veterans [such as] Clinton Portis and Kevin Faulk, and I think their leadership will help me become a better running back in the future. We're going to go out there and win for our fans next Sunday, and then we're going to come back next season ready to with the Super Bowl."

The Knights will look to clinch a .500 record next week at home against the San Diego Chargers, who, at 7-8, will be looking to do the same.

That's too bad. Are you going to lose on purpose now to get a good draft pick? Because I wouldn't.

Usually the best draft picks I get in Madden are 3rd or 4th round sleepers. I wouldn't lose on purpose, anyway, though.

Knights Fall Victim to Snowstorm In OT
San Diego Chargers (8-8) - 27
Nevada Knights(7-9) - 24

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter
(SD) Mike Tolbert 1 yard run for a TOUCHDOWN (2:19)
(NEV) Clinton Portis runs it in for a 3 yard TOUCHDOWN (0:42)

2nd Quarter
(SD) Vincent Jackson receives a 40 yard pass form Philip Rivers for a TOUCHDOWN (0:02)

3rd Quarter
(NEV) Clinton Portis pounds it in form the 1 yard line for a TOUCHDOWN (9:07)
(NEV) 1 yard run by Noel Devine for a TOUCHDOWN

4th Quarter
(NEV) John Carney 28 yard field goal is GOOD (11:28)
(SD) Mike Tolbert runs it in from the 24 for a TOUCHDOWN (3:16)
(SD) Mike Scifres 24 yard field goal is GOOD (2:27)

Overtime
(SD) Mike Scifres field goal from 34 yards out is GOOD (3:11)

A surprise snowstorm hit the Las Vegas area on Sunday, and temperatures dropped below 30, leading to a run-heavy game that the Knights lost in overtime, 27 to 24. Clinton Portis carried the load offensively, and Mike Kafka was solid on most his pass attempts, but the key event in the game was the T.J. Houshmandzadeh fumble at the Chargers' 32 yard line in overtime. The ensuing drive by San Diego led to the game winning field goal, and the Knights officially fell to 7-9, a respectable record but overall a disappointing one given their promising start.

"It was a good season," said head coach Rashawn Williams. "We were definitely the underdogs out there in every game we played, but we fought hard and won a solid 7 games. We're going to work hard in the off season and in the upcoming training camp and come back next year ready to win.

7-9 is pretty good. Next year will be better though! A snowstorm sounds fun to play in. :)

Titans Blow Out Rams In Super Bowlwut
Tennessee Titans - 40
St. Louis Rams - 9

In one of the most unexpected Super Bowl matchups in NFL history, the Tennessee Titans took care of business and blew out the 13-3 St. Louis Rams.

This marks the end of the 2011-2012 NFL season and the beginning of the 2012 offseason. It will be interesting to see where big-time free agents are headed, and who will land hot prospects in the upcoming draft. We'll be there with you every step of the way, keeping tabs on everything football.
