Yeah, another starter wouldn't hurt.

Knights Beat Samurais in an 11 Inning Epic!

Image – Goro Shigeno

Yamanote Stadium, Sakai, Osaka – What. A. Game. The Knights beat their only rivals, The Sakai Samurais in an 11 inning epic, winning by only one run, 5 to 4. But to get something out of the way, Tadahiko Fujita was batting .400 at the beginning of the game.

The scoring started early for the Knights in the top of the 3rd inning, with Shimozono getting a leadoff double, and then Miyaki moving him up to third with a groundout, and then Yamato drops a nice suicide squeeze to drive in Shimozono, and tie up the game at 1. In the very next inning, Oda hits a leadoff homerun to give the Knights a 2-1 lead! Skip to the bottom of the 8th, where Shimazaki (who already tied the game at 2 in the 6th) hit an RBI double to give the Samurais a 3 to 2 lead in the late going. In the top of the 9th, Kurihara starts the inning off with a double, so Jonny Hoashi is brought in to close the game, and quickly gets Shigeno out, but then Fukuchi singles, and Shimozono hits on that lands right on the line fair, and Kurihara scores the tying run!

Skip ahead to the top of the 10th, and you will be amazed; pitcher Tsukiya Yamato hit a homerun on the first pitch of the 10th inning to give the Knights the lead 4 to 3!!! But, sadly, Fujita tied it up with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning to keep the game going. But Shigeno hit a solo homerun to lead off the top of the 11th to give the Knights the winning run! Makida came in to close, and shut them down 1-2-3.

What a game.

Knights Lose By Kamei, Once Again

Image
Image – Ken Kamei

Yamanote Stadium, Sakai, Osaka – The Knights and Samurais had another epic last night in Osaka. It, sadly, ended with a walk-off by the hands of Ken Kamei, once again. The game started out looking like a blowout, with the Knights having a rough first inning, after an error by Kurihara that enabled the inning to continue. But, Kurihara made up for it in the very next frame, when he hit a homerun that completely left the park, to reduce the lead to 3-1.

Hiyama got into a bind again in the bottom half of the 3rd, with the Samurais having bases loaded, and 1 out. But, he struck out Okazaki, and got Shuai to ground out to short to end the inning.

Skip to the 8th, and Kura hits an RBI double to make the score 5-3, and then Kurihara followed it up with a bomb to center to tie the game at 5! But, that didn’t matter in the end, as Kamei ended it with his 6th homerun on the year.

Also, Tsuyoshi Matsunaga jumped right into the wall trying to catch Shimazaki's hit, but he missed it, and slammed into the wall, spraining his right wrist in the process. He should be out for a month.

I headed down to Kensou's office to discuss the trade involving Egawa once again.
I knocked on the door, and walked in.
"Kensou, I've got an idea for that trade we were talking about." I said
"Yeah? Well, what is it?" He replied
"Well, I'll be proposing it tomorrow with the Dragons, if you think that it's a good idea."
"Okay, who's involved in it?"
"It'll be Egawa and Atori for right-handed starting pitcher, Kazuki Yoshimi."
"Yoshimi, huh? He's doing well, isn't he?"
"He sure is! His ERA is just a little bit above 2, and I think that he still has room to improve too."
"Well, Jack...

Should I propose this trade?

Egawa
Atori

FOR

Yoshimi

Knights Beat BayStars

Image
Image – Fukuchi and Shima

Yokohama Stadium, Naka Ward, Yokohama – The Knights had a very nice game, beating the BayStars by a final score of 6-2. Most impressive though, was Shima who threw a complete game, hopefully coming out of his poor start to the season. “I did well.” He said in his postgame conference. He’s quite the talker.

Anyways, this game wasn’t all that special, noting to really write home about, other than the fact that Kurihara now has 50 RBIs! Congratulations to him!

Alright, I proposed the trade to the Dragons, hopefully they'll accept!

Last year Yoshimi went 18-3 with a 1.65 ERA, and this year he's 3-2 with a 2.08 ERA.

Let's hope this all works out!

It Ends With a Tie

MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima, Minami-ku, Hiroshima – Well, the Knights were in quite the game last night, but it didn’t look to be it at the beginning. Second pitch of the bottom half of the 1st Akamatsu hit a solo shot to lead off the inning to give the Carp a 1-0 lead. And in the 3rd, the Carp got a lucky break scoring a run due to an Oda error, on what could have been the inning end double play.

In the 4th, the Knights started climbing back, thanks to good old Kurihara, who hit his 24th homerun to make the score 2-1. And in the next inning, Terauchi tied it up with an RBI single!

Jump to the 8th, and Nakata comes up with runners on 1st and 3rd, and he gets a nice single to give the Carp a 3-2 lead. But, next frame, Oda pulls one over the right field wall to tie it up!

And the score would stay the same until the end of the game, thus ending it in a tie.

Man, ties in sports really annoy me. Especially in baseball. I hate ties in football (the last NFL tie was an Eagles game). It's also one of the reasons I'm not the biggest soccer fan.
