Since I'm a late follow, I have to ask. What are Kurihara's abilities?

December 29, 2014

I called up my new draft picks, Koyato Oda, Yoshifumi Muranaka, and Ryouya Miyaki, and the three of them showed up to my office at just the time I told them, even though it was snowing out.

12:20

"Come on in you three, it's cold as anything out here." I said to them as the neared the offices behind the stadium
The three of them walked in, and took off their coats.

Jack: Well, welcome to the team you three, have you guys met up with anyone on the team yet?
Oda: Dude, when I heard my name, I immediately called Kura. It's been, like, forever since we've played on the same team.
Jack: Oh, so you know Kura?
Oda: Yeah man! Me and him, we've known each other since Junior High! We absolutely killed it in the middle infield!
Jack: Excellent. Well, Muranaka, Miyaki, how about you guys?
Muranaka: I've not called anyone, save for my family, yet. But I'll make sure that I get to know the team soon!
Miyaki: Yeah, I haven't really talked to anyone, well, actually, Nomoto, he and I grew to be good friends in high school.
Jack: You know Nomoto?
Miyaki: Everyone knows Nomoto! But, seriously, we became good friends when I was a 2nd year, he was captain. He lead us to the Koshien!
Jack: I see, I see. Very well then! Muranaka, you seem to be the only one who doesn't know anyone!
Muranaka: Sadly, I do not! But I will make it my impetus to get to know everyone on the team! Starting with you two, nice to meet you *He shakes Miyaki's hand* Miyaki Ryouya, and you as well, *he shakes Oda's hand* Oda Koyato!
Oda: Nice to meet you too, man!
Miyaki: Nice to meet you Muranaka.
Jack: Welcome to the team! It looks like the three of you will be excellent additions to the team! Miyaki, Muranaka, would you mind leaving, just for a second, I would like to speak with Oda privately.
Muranka: Of course, sir! *He gets up and leaves*
Miyaki: No problem *He too leaves*
Oda: What do you want to talk about?
Jack: Oda. You'll be taking over as the starting second baseman next season, replacing Nomoto.
Oda: *He dropped the pen he took from my desk* I'm sorry, what?
Jack: You'll be replacing Nomoto, Oda.
Oda: You can't be serious.
Jack: I'm dead serious, Oda. Nomoto didn't perform well. He was great with the glove, but the bat was really lacking. When's the last time you've played second?
Oda: Well, jeez, I haven't played second since Junior High when Kura was on the same team as me.
Jack: Alright. I want you to perfect playing second during spring training.
Oda: Uh, sure man... I mean, yes sir! I will, man!
Jack: Very well! You're dismissed.
Oda: Dude. I'm honored, thank you, really.
Jack: Don't worry about it, show me I've made the right decision!
Oda: No problem man, I'll show you!
Jack: Oh, and call in the other two.
Oda: Will do.
*He walks out, and Muranaka and Miyaki come back in*
Muranaka: What was up with that, if you don't mind me asking?
Jack: Oh, well, Oda's going to be replacing Nomoto as starting second baseman.
Miyaki: What?!
Jack: Yeah, I'm going to break the news to Nomoto tomorrow.
Miyaki: I see, I see.
Jack: Alright, you two, you want to hear your roles?
Muranaka: Of course!
Jack: Well, Muranaka, you'll be one of our set up men, you good with that?
Muranaka: Of course!
Jack: Good, you're dismissed.
*He walks out*
Miyaki: And me, sir?
Jack: Miyaki, you'll be our backup outfielder.
Miyaki: Very well, I understand.
Jack: Excellent. You're dismissed.
Miyaki: Thank you sir.
*He walks out*

I walked them to the doors, and bid them farewell, for I won't be seeing them for a while.

"Well, fellas, I'll be seeing you." I said
"Goodbye sir." Muranaka said
"See you, man." Oda said
"Bye, Allen-senpai." Miyaki said

I headed home, and pondered on how I could break the news to Nomoto...

14:31

I called up Nomoto, and told him to come down to the office.

14:59
Nomoto arrived at the office, and came in.
"Hey, Nomoto, I've got something to tell you..." I said
"Yeah, what is it?" He replied
"Well... Uh... I'm not sure how to put this..."
"Oda's going to replace me, huh?"
"Hm?! Well... Uh... Yeah... He will be..."
"I expected as much."
"Yeah... So we'll be putting you on the bench."
"I completely understand, Jack. Don't worry."
"You do? Excellent."
"Of course I do, Jack, I didn't do very well last season. I only batted, what, .232, or something? Abysmal. And that error I made to lose us the game... I still can't get that out of my head. Jack, I'll do everything I can to help the team on the bench!"
"Very well! Thank you Nomoto!"
"Don't worry about it. I'll be seeing you in February."
"Alright, see you, Nomoto."
"Bye."

He left my office, and went out the main doors.
I'm very happy that that went as smoothly as it did, Nomoto's really a nice guy!

I believe we did well in this year's draft, picking up some solid batters, and a good left handed reliever.

Notable Picks

19, OF, N/A, L/R, 2, A, E, A, C, D, D

Geez, the draft picks in the 2011 version are a lot better than the ones in the 2010 version.

The Marines have called up catcher, Jun Shunta. He excels in all categories, and can play some outfield too!

Jun Shunta - C #25
AGE, 2ND POSTION, B/T, TRJ, CON, POW, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
19, OF, R/R, 3, C, C, B, C, C, C
Bio: He's good at everything, he's got some good speed, a good bat, and is a proficient fielder. He'll be a good fit for the cleanup spot of a struggling team.
Personality: Outgoing, a bit conceited

So close......

Well... The only one that was actually in the draft was my 3rd round pick, the rest of them are Success players I put on teams at random.

Knights Win Opener!

Image - Masato Kurihara

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku – The Knights hit 4 homeruns last night, in a winning effort against the Hawks, by a final score of 7-5. Two rookies had their debut in yesterday’s game, 2nd baseman, Koyato Oda, and set-up man, Yoshifumi Muranaka. Oda, did fantastically, Muranaka, not so much.

Oda went 2-4, with a double and a 2 run homerun! In fact, his first NPB hit was a 2-run homerun sending him, and his middle infield partner, Kura, home in the bottom half of the 6th inning. After the game, he held a press conference, “Dude! It was awesome! I’ve always wanted to hit a big league homer. And it seems that I did it my first at-bat!” he said. Oda and Kura have been a huge draw for crowds, the number of teenage girls attending the game have been through the roof, all of them for Kura and Oda. Who, apparently, are very close friends. Muranaka, on the other hand, didn’t do so well. He went 1 inning, letting up 2 runs. Luckily though, we had a 3 run lead in the 8th. “I have to improve my performance, ten-fold.” He said after the game.

It looks like Oda is really going to help the team!

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – What a game for the rookie, Fujita. He had a bid for a perfect game, going 3 1/3 innings without letting up a hit, until Tanaka got a double off of him to right. He would only allow 1 more hit another double to Itoi, in the entire game. “I never expected to do this well in my first game.” He said after the game. He had 7 strikeouts! Setting a record in the Knights organization. “He looked very promising,” Manager Kensou Mori said “he’ll be an incredibly valuable asset in the Knight’s organization.”

Another big contributor in the win was shortstop, Taiga Kura. He accounted for 5 of the 6 runs scored, hitting 2 homeruns, a solo homerun in the 7th, and a fantastic grand slam in the next inning, the 8th. He spoke about it, “Man, I’ve never hit a grand slam. It was incredible. And also, I’ve gotten my 100th career RBI with my homerun!”

That’s right, Kura’s the third member of the Knights to reach 100 RBIs, only behind the greats, Kurihara and Kanazawa!
