I was doing so good with 12 saves and a 1.29 ERA. Then my game froze and I lost 2 months worth. :( I was in AAA for the first month, though. I also went Golfing with Jason Bay! Too bad he was traded. :( I'm the Pirates in the game.

Are you talking about the real life trade or was he traded in your game? I still hang out with Oakley a lot, and he was traded(realistic yeah, he's in oakland I'm in chicago, but cool that I can still hang out with him). He's my best friend star wise, so I still do stuff with him even though he's on a different team.

I mean Bay was traded in real life. Oakley is my best bud too. That's cool you can still hang with him.

Okay, I thought you meant they traded him in the game, and I was thinking, the computer probably got some really crappy player because they always trade good players for bad players.

I'm doing much better now on the Braves. I'm starting to get the hang of hitting and now during Interleague I'm batting clean-up as the DH and I'm at 30 stolen bases.

Wow! 30 SB's as a DH clean up hitter? That's great!

Update on my character:
I was starting to do very well, and I got my average up to about .315 and then the coach told me that I had been working hard and the socuts were scouting me hard. And I knew what was coming, a breaking ball fest, I can't hit them worth crap. I was thrown one or two fastballs in about 10 AB's and only got 2 or 3 hits...then I was sent down to AAA. I picked up right where I left off in AAA mashing 2 HR's my first game, then I went 4-11 with 1 HR and 4 RBI's my next 4 games. I'm batting .420 something with 16 HR's and about 28 RBI's in AAA.

They have nerfed the power swing and made contact a little stronger. It is now better to use contact except with legitimate power hitters, whereas I never used contact before except in special situations.
I am doing crappy, my char had 2 contact, it took like a month and a half to make the bigs, got sent down once then took another month to be a starter, I am only batting .280 and I have no HR or walks, I have decided to reroll and maybe do a pitcher.
Also it is way too easy to steal.

I decided for my first run through to create a player from scratch rather than using a Success Mode player. So I started as a 17 year old 3B first round draft pick with "clutch hitter" and "amazing bat control" strengths, and a "poor base stealing" weakness. That started me with G CON (3), C PWR (120), E RUN SPD, D ARM, and E/F FLD. With those stats I went with the normal difficulty level but lowered lock-on to 1.

I started the year in AAA after not getting at least two hits in every pre-season game, but got called up after hitting .600 in AAA over the first two weeks of April. After a couple of weeks of just getting pinch hitting appearances, I got added to the starting lineup as DH around the first of May.

One thing I've noticed is that the difficulty has adjusted itself upwards as the season has moved on. A few times in the season I've seen a message like "my level has increased," and after that the pitching ball mark was a bit harder to track. By the end of the season it was dancing around a lot like playing the Powerful level on 2007. So while I was hitting .400 at the end of July, I ended the year at .350 because it got harder on its own. That was very cool. And there is also the stuff that has been mentioned about how the amount of scouting attention you get paid affects how pitchers throw to you.

Wyl, Does your 17 yr old gain stats really quickly?

I did something stupid. I built a guy who ended his first year batting .277 48HRs and 106RBIs on the Royals. I signed a new contract with Jacob for $1.7mil and started spring taining. I thought, I wanna start a different guy on a different team just for variety. I'm mowing through this new guy's season and I decide to save. My friend calls me to hang out. I'm just chatting on my cell when I realize that I just overwrote my first player's career. Devastated is putting my state mildly.

I've done stuff like that on other games, it's very dissapointing.

yeah i got scouted after a .370 10hr 23rbi start in april and then by late may, early june i was down to .290 13hr 30rbi

i think morale had something to do with it but it was a lot harder getting hits even with solid contact

Well here's my final stats from 2008.
MLB
122 games
193 AB's
.321 average
8 HR
24 RBI's
2 SB

W/RISP
.440 average
11 hits
25 AB's

AAA
37 games
137 AB's
.423 average
18 HR
29 RBI's

My settings are expert and normal batting

Well, I really heated up in the last month of the season because the other teams stopped scouting me, which I was in a really bad slump before that. Then at the end of september the coach said they started scouting me again, but it didn't matter ecause the cubs sent me down to AAA. We went 89-73 and made it to the NLCS and lost to the dodgers in 7 games, which we had a 3-0 lead then the dodgers won 4 straight. Well, I ended up getting a $816,000 contract for my 2nd year. I'm not sure why, but the cubs brought in Adam Dunn, so I guess they have no use for me, and Soriano and Dunn will split time. I'm now hoping for a trade. They also signed Ray Durham and CC Sabathia, so I'm sure they'll be even better this year.

Edit: I also forgot to mention, my first MLB HR was 505 feet.

Not bad duke. Sucks that they make trades that they don't really need like adding Dunn. I'm having the same issue with my team. In his 2nd year, my 3B tore it up:
2009 Stats: .334, 205 Hits, 48 HR (lead MLB), 145 RBIs (lead NL), 13SB
Then the team signed Melvin Mora and Wes Helms. What were they thinking?
