I have put a couple of templates in the wiki that I use. You can do it quite different from that as well.

To use the template you would use the following

{{bred}} text {{ered}}
this works for yellow, orange, magenta, green, and blue as well.

This will only work for non-linked words.

I strongly discourage colored text unless it's beneficial to denote special entries in lists or tables (like 2007 only, or Success Mode only, etc.). This keeps the wiki easy to read and uniform.

I should place a page with the Hex color codes for the A-G statuses that I use and the font styles as well (I think it was Comic Sans, but I don't remember). These colors should be set as standards for when relating to in game numbers/statistics). If you are supplementing numbers to letter grades, they should be in black and beside the text.
Every letter grade stat has been defined in this way, the stats on the 15 scale use the a basic template; the stats on the 255 scale have their own templates. The template for letter graded stats will place the number as a tool tip when hovered over. (eg. {{{rank power|179}}})

{{Rank trajectory|1}} 1-4 scale
{{Rank 15|13}}
{{Rank power|103}}
{{Rank stamina|145}}
{{Rank control|204}}

Otherwise, text should be black on white background in the standard font.

You can also use HTML <font> tags, but pending an update on wiki standards, that may change (aka, no more html tags)

I tried it with red, and it worked fine, but how do you do it with the other colors? what do you have to type in the brackets? I'm really new to web page writing, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit the italcized text to fit your desires.

{{bcolor}} text {{ecolor}}

if said color was blue, it will appear as:

Beware what colors you use, as the common style colors would denote links (active, dead, visited).

Stay away from Blue, Red, and Purple.
