Here is one I did this evening as a goof. He's a middle reliever, and here is the gimmick - I drew Lone Wolf to go with Gd Sense. I went with it, played straight through Success Mode *without saving and reloading even once* I picked up Insomniac along the way, and had Timid for a few months before a random event cleared it -lol- I had to do a lot more resting than usual because I was sticking to the no save/no reload policy, so I didn't take many chances practicing with a high injury percentage. I didn't get a gambler's ring, didn't date at all, and spent most of my job income on Powerin, booster supplement (reduces vitality used in practice), recover necklace, anti-injury necklace, getting stuck with the insurance policy at that RE because my sole fate card was a Yes, and hospital visits (got injured once for 3 weeks, and two other times where I just lost experience). I used roughly 6 gambler's tickets the whole game, and was successful 5 of the 6 times (of course, I never gambled lower than 60% because I didn't want to take a big chance). I managed to make it to the end and get a contract, despite losing to the World Gatherings in Year 2 (so no tournament game experience). I made it to the championship game in Year 3 before losing to the Champion Rings 4-3 and ending the game. So now I present "X," who is average to above average for bringing in as a season mode player. Anyone else want to take a shot at getting a player through Success without a single reload? It was actually kind of fun with Lone Wolf, because I got to see some reactions during random events based on choices I'd never made before. Like telling the scout "no" when he comes up to me before the game, or getting punched by Becky for telling her that running on the beach with you and Marvin would help her lose some weight (second random event involving Marvin getting a car and agreeing to go driving with him) -lol- ![]() |

Not bad at all. I did it with my first two hitters and pitchers - before I joined any forums and even knew that s/l'ing was such a strategy. My first ended up with B power and not much else, and my second had B in the two fielding stats - both had a decent amount of abilities, though. As I've mentioned a long time ago my first pitcher had nothing other than a hodge-podge of 8 different level 1/2 pitches. It looks cool on the stat screen, though. How do you get the Password pictures to be so clear? Do you have a really nice TV and really nice camera? |

How do you get the Password pictures to be so clear? Do you have a really nice TV and really nice camera? I realize now I've got a typo - his stamina isn't 166 (that would be an A). I obviously typed the same number twice. I'll have to go back and look, but I think his stamina was around 120 (definitely a B). I do have a nice enough TV (I play on a 42" Vizio LCD), but my camera is just a little Canon PowerShot SD850 point-and-shoot. It takes good pictures, but it was only like $250. I just crop the pictures to size in Photoshop, but I actually worry sometimes that the pictures aren't clear enough because I've resized them down from the original, and then stretched or shrunk them after pasting them into Excel where I'm inputting the stats. My first two Success Mode tries were also without saving/reloading, but neither one of them got a contract. I got the "game over" after losing at some point, and didn't know any better than to just save the data and start a new game from the beginning ![]() |

I did this with my first 5 players. The fifth player was the only one to make it. None of my players got injured until number 7. And I didn't know you could save it until the 4th player. |

That's quite a pitcher you've got there, especially for the lone wolf. ![]() I decided to give this a shot too. I just went with the first stats I got (average abilities/no good or bad statuses) and everything actually turned out fine. I got to the finals but lost the second year and didn't even beat the World Gatherings in the third year (5-0 ![]() I got a decent fielder out of it and the idea was pretty fun, so it was worth it. ![]() 2 Trj Con 10 C Pow 140 B Spd 10 C Arm 8 D FLD 11 C E Res 10 C 4 Clutch Hit, Good IF Htr, Gold Glover and a couple of good stike zones Now here's a funny idea. Think we should have a contest to see who could make the best character? It would all boil down to luck but it might be interesting... ![]() |

I was actually trying this today because I was bored...my player started out with lone wolf and Good Sense(low starting stats). Lone wolf killed my character, I got to the captain choosing and they offered it to me and I only had challenge so I had to win the championship, so I gave up because I've never been able to get through the 2nd year and win every game without having to play some of the games multiple times. Edit: I made one today with no saveing/reloading. He's a SS, not very good, but that's not suprising since no save/reload. Contact: 9 Power: 113 Speed: 12 Arm Strength: 7 Fielding: 4 E Res: 10 He also has some abilities: Clutch Hit 4(Purchased) Tough Runner(Random Event) Poise 4(pitching, I had 100+ mentality points left over with no other points so I just bought it) Poor Small Ball(Random event) Edit...again This was also a really relaxing success mode, it was really something I needed because I was getting very angry with success mode(reloading billions of times), so it was very helpful. |

I'm having so much fun doing this, and I'm producing average Major League talent out of this, so I keep adding these guys to my season mode team...I just really needed a break from all that saving and reloading, and this has cured it. But, I'm very addicted to this so I probably won't stop doing it yet...I'm glad I came across this thread. |

I reloaded only between breaks and days. He is actually pretty good. He had F power, C contact, C run speed, and F all fielding. I had golden glover so I didn't think fielding matters. He has a cannon arm (didn't realise it was for outfielders), clutch hitter, power hitter (around 15-20 homers a year), push hitter, contact hitter, and many more that I don't remember. I'd have to type the code so if anyone really wants it, ask. If not, I'd rather not waiste time. He hits around 300 and is a pretty fun, good player and while no all-star, he adds a lot to most teams. If only his power was better (I didn't think it mattered seeing how he hit one out of the park each at-bat towards the end) and he had good defense then he could be an all-star. His power is less then 3 away from e so I'm working on that. Then I'm going to try to get his fielding to all ds and then he'll be great. This would probably take two years. |

Quote: SRC, that's a good fielder too. Definitely useable in season mode. What I don't like is he doesn't exactly stand out, yet you can still get a similar prospect for a ninth of his salary. (3440) I guess he could come in handy somewhere along the lines, since other teams don't exactly hand you over their players for free. >> I tried this again , and almost everything went my way. I thought I might have had a straight-A player coming up, until my guy forgot about visiting good ol' Dr. Goodjob at his address. Still, he's a lot better than I expected, and is now one of my best characters. But I never did gamble and reload much... I think I'll just settle for Crawford for my star center fielder. ![]() |
