Post subject:  Worth Putting Up?

I just finished making my first pitcher using gambling. However, I had to spend $500+ on Gambling Tickets because I couldn't get the Gambling Ring. Anyway, I wondered if this pitcher was worth putting up the password.
-87 MpH
-C (149) in Control
-B (131) in Stamina
-Safe Pitcher
-Strong Finisher
-Good Reflexes
-Lucky
-Battler
-4 vs. Lefty
-4 Poise
-2SFB = 2
-H-SLD = 2
-SLV = 4
-PALM = 1
-KN = 5
-SC = 3
-SIFB = 7

What do you guys think?

I have incredibly high standards, so your guy wouldn't make my team. His control is too low and his stamina makes him a swing man at best. His lack of velocity and few abilities seal the deal. His offspeed pitches are good, but you should of focused on getting 3 or 4 of those maxed out. pretty good for not using the gambling ring.

I probably wouldn't, especially considering the time it takes to put it up - whether you typing it all in or transferring pictures.

Most people on these boards will only use the best guys with primarily A's and B's and 95+ top speeds with a few maxed pitches.

There are a limited amount of slots of success players, so most would prefer to save them for the best of the best.

Yeah, Gambling Rings are annoying to get with the save/loading needed. But it does make for much better guys and lot less money spent - in fact you make money because it can be sold for high value. But they're obviously extremely useful.

If you make a pitcher again, get the ring and use Odawali's shadow pitching strategy guide in the success mode forum and search rsoohoo's giude in the Wiki. Don't get as many pitches - quality over quantity. 3 level 7's is better than 7 level 3's or so. The best imo is the knuckler. Barely any hitter in the game can hit it. And with a high speed fastball, it's amazing. I suggest making a reliever (so use less points of stamina - up to C), with a 100 speed, and level 7 knuckleball and drop curve. With a G-Ring, it should be quite easy to accomplish - each practice should get you at least a level-up in speed or pitch and maybe some control points.

If you're having trouble making money, do the tutoring job. Get level 2 bookworm by the time of the final exams and save/reload until you get the highest score. Do this by studying first four times and getting questions each time. Then do both of annie's homeworks and get the scene with Annie after you finish her 2nd homework and you're at level 2. Challenge when asked if you want to be a tutor. This will get you $160 the first time and after that save/reload until you get asked how Eddie is doing. Use a challenge card again to get $260 each time you work.

Like The-F said, you've spread out too much and become a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none pitcher. He'll sit in as a swing-man or 7th inning guy at best.

You need to come into your players knowing where they will stand. If you're making a starter, closer/setup man, or swing man, you need to know what each requires and what emphasis they will need.

Emphasis on maxing out (5 or better) on 2-3 pitches rather than going for 1 pitch in every direction.

A starter will need A/B stamina and B/C control to be viable.
A closer will need A/B control, a high top speed, and 1-2 topped out pitches.

You can make an excellent guy without the ring, but it makes it easier.

The tutoring job has limits, though. After a while, it will end.

The pizza job is still the best if you're willing to save/load - a lot. I learned it from odawali. If save/load every time until the boss says "another day, another dollar" and challenge, he might give you a $20 raise. Sometimes, it fails, you lose motivation, and should reload. At the beginning you should challenge, too, and when offered the pizza delivery job, challenging then always succeeds. Also, being a job master (level 1 moneyman) will increase the salary by $20.

In my success mode runs, the tutoring job lasts the whole time for me. I will only work 3 times the whole run. That gets me $680 which is more than enough for me. At the beginning of the pizza job, the money you get is $120, 140$, 160$, 180$, $200, etc. Through the first three times you work, you get $260 more from the tutoring job.

Yeah, but the tutoring job is only available after the exams, which is a good 4 months off. By then the salary for pizza will be around 180 (depending on if you got the delivery job. After the tutoring job becomes available, then switch - only if you have the challenge cards for it.

One other tip - if you don't have a challenge card for the pizza guy when he does his "another day, another dollar" speech, use a Marvin card - it gives you a raise (only for that day), and gets rid a very useless card.

You're forgetting getting the pay to 180 will take up turns that could be used to increase power/stamina and there really isn't anything you need to buy before your second year.

Yeah, the tutor's much better.

By the way, challenging the first time only gets you to 150, unless you're a job master.

Still didn't have enough money at the time, so had to sell goggles to buy Annie a present.

As long as you make 150 by the time the store comes, you should be fine - the mind-training and recovery necklaces.

Thanks everyone. I didn't even know that there was a tutoring job! I guess I'll try again, this time with a shortstop, because my shortstops in Season Mode are truly awful.
