odawali- you seem to be good at determining abilities for players. i am making a tim lincecum character and i want him to be realistic. Can you give me some input for abilities?

i agree on control. i think stamina should be mid A range since he did go deep into games a few times and threw 146.3 innings as a rookie. (about 6 innings per start) he did get knocked around a few times, but he came back after all of them and pitched pretty well so i think he may be deserving of the poise ability. any other abilites you think he should have- let me know

i am also thinking a maxed 2-seamer (lincecum throws his two seamer 94-96 mph with pretty good movement), a 6 curveball and a 6 change-up. unfortunately, my lincecum started out with a slider (got gd sense didn't want to reload) so i just decided to leave that at 1 so it isn't really that effective.

level 6 for the pitches may be a little too high, if we're talking about realism. Keep in mind that those are the level's of Johan Santana's circle change, and Mariano Rivera's cutter. But if you just want to have the skeleton (pitch types) accurate with over-the-top stats (I actually like that more), then that'll be alright. From the scouting reports I've read, his slider is better than his change, so..., maybe you should upgrade it.

"…he continued to pitch extremely well in his first look at pro hitters, dominating the Northwest and California Leagues in brief action. Has first-class stuff: 93-95 MPH fastball that can hit 98…top-notch curve ball…above-average slider…improving changeup … The only thing that scares scouts is his size … has a rubber arm that absorbs innings without harm. At least it has so far…his pitch counts have been murderous, although he’s dealt with them with no ill effect … Assuming his arm is as resilient as everyone thinks, he will be an outstanding major league pitcher in any role."

quote from Giants Cove of the MVN network who quoted the renowned John Sickels.

good point, i will leave the curve at level, it has been dominating at times. the change-up 4 and the slider at 4. his change-up has been improving greatly. (he got like 4 strikeouts with it his last start). i just got consistensiy through a random event, but i don't think he's quite desevring of that yet (he got knocked around a few times last year) so i am thinking of reloading. what do you think?

I don't think it'll be a problem. Personally I don't feel many of the abilities have huge impact. But if you really are looking for realistic, then scrap it.

Yeah. I was wondering, which curveball did you choose?

regular. his is more of a sharp, late breaking curve.

If you are really trying to be realistic, change his curve to a 5. You should really try to find out how fast his curve is. Knuckle curve is the fastest and slow curve is obviously the slowest. If it is a sharp, late break then I recommend the drop curve.

Yeah, I was thinking you should go with the Drop.
