Alright, since I insist on playing with the maximum amount of realism, I've embarked on a season with both CPU Hitting and Pitching set to "Powerful".

It's Mid-May and I'm 7.5 games out of the division and 5 or so games under .500. I'm fine with hitting, but it's REEEAL hard for my hitters to come back and win it when my pitching can't turn in a decent performance. My starters have an average ERA of 8+, and my Bullpen has an average ERA of 10+. The CPU hitters just have rally after rally after rally. They're freaking relentless. They hit a ton of home runs. I would hate to turn CPU Batting down to All-Star and start over again, because I know I'll win every game.

Should I keep playing this season and just see where I am at the break? Or should I give up and go the easy way?

Hm, I don't know what you should do, but I want to know how do you change the settings to make the game SUPER hard? Right now, I'm 5 games after the All-Star break, and I still have a perfect record and I'm sort of getting sick of winning every game. I have the setting pretty hard, but I still win every game.

Look at my post...change CPU hitting and CPU pitching to powerful.

What about CPU batting type? Lock-On, Best Try or Manual?

It's Manual...and the funny thing is, If I go to All-Star with Lock on 5 it still isn't even close to Powerful with Normal sweetspot.

I assume you are personally using Manual settings for yourself. What about All-Star and Best Try? I know that's pretty cheap but you have to find a happy medium somewhere.

I've had to fiddle around with my settings, and how good my team is affects things. Generally speaking, what I've found to work pretty well for me is setting CPU pitching, hitting, and baserunning to Powerful, turning off lock-on for the CPU and setting mine to 1, and and setting my baserunning to semi-auto (control the lead runner only). Those settings still yield too many hits per game on average (15-20 per side), but the runs scored are typical for MLB games and the games are competitive. I still win probably 75% of the games, but that's a lot more enjoyable to me than winning 100% of the games and doing this -

70 pitches?!?!?! Man that's nasty! That's an incredible game! I wish I could do that. Have you ever gotten more than 99 runs?

yes, and 99 hits. Didn't throw the no-hitter (got bored and started hurling only fastballs)...

Did your pitcher go to "rock and roll mcdonalds" after the game? :D

To be fair, that was my stacked Hall of Famer team and that game above was played with easy settings against one of the lesser MLB teams - CPU settings on "normal" with no lock-on, with my batting lock-on at 5 :) Ozzie had a "bad" game at the plate with only a 5-9 because I was trying to jack home runs trying to see how long of a consecutive string I could get (I did manage 8 in a row). I *was* trying for the perfect game, but gave up a clean single in the 7th or 8th.

I've never broken 100 runs, but I also don't normally play like this. I did this for a goof after we were talking in some other thread awhile back about how many consecutive homers we could get and scoring a lot of runs and all. The first run through Season Mode I did after getting the game, I got to where by the last couple of years I could fairly easily score 30-50 runs a game - a combination of me having gotten better at the game and practicing my players up to high skill levels over the seasons. But I'd never tried to "stack the deck" like in the game I screen shot above :)
