I signed Teixeira and Nathan, in addition to the players I couldn't renew the contracts for. And then I traded the majority of them away, for young cheap guys and owner points.

What amazes me is that some terrible vet players with G contact still ask for 8k+ while there are often young good players in their first FA years, sometimes even coming off a good season, that ask only for the minimum.

Yeah, a lot of the contracts just make me go "huh?"
But I prefer to just trade or draft.

I signed Tony Clark as well, after the third season. His A power is fantastic and I've trained him up to E contact, bad, but passable. It's so easy to train guys. I traded for Ryan Howard, and he's now A's and B's for fielding. All of my drafted guys have at least one level 6/7 pitch, and everyone I trade for has at least two A's for fielders or to level 5+ pitches by the time I let him go. Somehow Ryan Howard who also has maxed out Contact, Trajectory, Fielding, Error Resistance, and Power now stills costs less than 1000.

My Arrange Team is far too good to sign major league scrubs

Half my pitching staff still has 0.00 ERA's and I'm three weeks in

All I gotta do is win the World Series every year... no problem

Yeah, I guess so, but that defeats the fun of the wheeling and dealing of being a GM - keeping the payroll in the 90000's in the 7th year. And spending 100000 points on equipment for practice.

Yeah at the moment my salary is 141k, but I also started with the 50k bonus. My pitchers are expensive!

Yikes! But if you don't buy equipment you shouldn't be in that much trouble. I do generally have 370000 at the end of each season before being a bunch of 3-star equipment.

I would only mention someone when he has 200+ innings.

The first time I did a franchise (St. Louis), I traded over the hill Jim Edmonds and his salary (I think around 12500) to Philly for Ryan Howard, but since I already had Pujols I converted Howard to LF in spring training the following year :)

I unlocked arrange team after that first season, so even though I completed all 10 years with St. Louis all my subsequent Season Mode teams have been arrange teams. By the time I did my 4th or 5th Season Mode franchise I had so many Success Mode players available that I completely ignore trading or free agents other than my own. I have more fun building up the players I draft in AAA for a couple of years and then promoting them to the big club.
