Post subject:  Any tips on renewing contracts?

At the end of the season, I've faced with a number of young players who played so well that I'm dying to keep them (especially my Success characters). However, since they're really young, they're not wanting to sign the contract more than just 1 year. And I know for sure that the price will go up by the next year (because I'm going to play them directly).

Is there any possible way to hold young good players for longer years, like 4 or 5 years? What would be the best strategy to successfully and efficiently renew contracts?

It will probably require a few reloads - save on the first week of renewal. My way isn't cheap, but just follows the suggested salaries. Only works for players who have won't become free agents because of previous contract or 6 years. Try to sign everyone you want for 5 years. Take a note of anyone who signs. Reload, then do it for 4 years, take a note of everyone else who signs. Repeat for 3 and 2 years, until you figure out the longest the guys will sign for. Do it. Some guys will still not sign, let them go. The others teams won't sign them until AFTER free agent negotiations - and you can sign them there for 1 year deals and the suggested price (same as contract renewal).

You could experiment with lowering prices, but that's long and tedious.

I kept on trying to sign my success players for 5 years on a low contract. I ended up paying them 10 times what they asked for for 5 years, but it would have saved me money in the long run. Plus, upon giving up on Clemens and Giambi who both asked for too much I was able to lower my salary a huge amount.

Players like Clemens and Giambi are guys you probably want to trade mid-season. Not only do you not have to pay the rest of the year, but they aren't terribly effective, and you can get some decent returns.

Yeah, if you're a yankee here are some players you have to trade:
Pettite
Mussina
Clemens
Pavano
Hideki Matsui (Sadly, they only use 1 year of stats to determine they're skills...Godzilla got injured in 06 I think)
A-Rod-Trade for Miguel Cabrera
Igawa
Damon
Abreu
Jeter-Trade for Micheal Young or Jimmy rollins.
Posada-He's 2 old, so you have to trade him or his contact will turn into F
Rivera-Unfortunately, you have to trade him as his stats will be like F control, E stamina, 4 cutter.
Giambi-Just cut him.
So thats why being a yankee is the hardest team to control. The mets are about equal though.
