| Post subject: | New Karma System and Sports Score Tracking |
I installed a Karma system on this board tonight, so we can give ups and downs to each other for good or bad posts, something of a 'Thank you' and 'Hey, watch it'. Another thing I added was the Sports Tracking system. When this goes live (soon enough) you will be able to put in the scores of the baseball games throughout the year and win points based on good picks. You get 1 point if you pick the correct winner, and 5 if you pick the correct score. Click on the Fantasy Sports link at the top right to get started. The only issue I may have with the sports tracker is the fact that I may have to input each game by HAND and if you take 162 games times 30 teams not including playoffs is 4860 entries... though I suppose that number is cut in half since a game for one team is the same game for another, but still, 2430 entries will be a chore. I may be able to do something via SQL but here's to hoping. Comments? |

AUGH! get that football icon outta here! lol, just thought it was funny. I'm sure you can find a baseball for that... By Hand? I'm sure you can script up a lookup of mlb.com's daily scoreboard for a quick listing and grabbing final scores. You would simply perform an HTML grab and parse the lines (ewww). I'm not a PHP guy but PHP would be best for your hosting situation. |

This got me thinking. We should have a Fantasy Baseball League for next year. Participants could be chosen based on Karma or number of posts, etc. |

I don't think anyone's paying much attention to the Karma thing. By the way, what's the Shop up at the top for? |

When I have the time I will flesh that out a bit. I'm going to modify the code here so that posts give you credits, and you can spend the credits on items in the shop. Purely cosmetic of course but it gives a little special addition to our forums |
