is there a way to disable--rather than change--the player voice option, so that the announcer refers to the player with a generic "he"? |

If you're talking about created players, you can go in and remove the voice file associated with your player. |

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure it is in My Data then edit/customize created player. One of the options is for Voice, and you can change it to something else or take it out. |

Sorry, it seems I was mistaken. The only way to have the announcer not refer to you by name is to create a success player and not register a name in the voice setup. After you register a name there's no going back; you can change it to something else but it can never be empty again. My apologies. |

My apologies. ah well . . . so it goes. no worries, though, and no need to apologize. i could always just release / trade my success player and then re-register him and never assign a voice file to him. it would be really cool if konami offered online updates so we could download voice files for hall of famers, or even something that would allow us to type in any name and have the system recognize and use it. |

I think that the problem would be if the inputted name is mispronounced. Of course, it could use phonetic symbols with the accents and stuff - but that's kind of complicated. |
