Im on my 13th game of my first season. and have a few questions: I'm playing as the Mets, which obviously has a higher salary than most teams, but what's considered a reasonable salary I should be around? Is it ok to keep my salary as is? or should i only keep my salary as is assuming we win? Also, if I only plan on really playing one season, but every game, should i really be too concerned about payroll? or is this really more of a season to season thing to watch. Thanks! if you play out every game, I doubt you'll have salary issues, as you'll be going after nearly every point category except for walks. |

For the first year a salary over 90000 would be above the ideal amount. I'm sure there are plenty of overpriced Mets. You might want to consider trading Delgado and Martinez for younger players. As well as Green and Alou as salary dumps. |

You have to start out with the assumption that you will win the world series every year. That is 95,000 points already. Then you have to think you will get 20,000 points a month from games which gives you 215,000 points in total every year. There is also end of season points to take into account, so I would say add 15,000 for that. Depending on how much practice equipment you buy, a salary of 150,000 is very easy to maintain. |

Don't forget to factor in the luxury tax, which a 150000 salary is definitely going to pay - I would guess the threshold is somewhere around 130000. And the salaries will increase quite a bit at contract renewal. |

There's no need to ever have a salary over 35,000. My salaries are usually around 25,000 and I win the world series every year without using Success Mode players. Using an expansion team (no dream draft) and simming every game, you'll only win .135 of the games in your first year - but if you train them correctly (top speed and contact for the first year) then with a little luck you can win the wild card spot in year 2 along with the world series. By the time the third year rolls around you should be mopping the floor with everybody. When players start demanding salaries over 2,000 - don't renew their contracts and go with your bench players. It won't make a difference. Sure you *can* have 200,000 salaries.... but where's the fun in that? |

I usually keep my salary in the 50,000 - 70,000 range. For my tastes that is pretty realistic in relation to real life, that gives you 2-3 stars, several other good players, and then your filler material. |

The points are there for a reason, either to make your own players better through upgrades or to spend points in trades/fa to improve your roster directly. Usually if you have high salary players, it means you have a good team, so just having the best players you can afford to pay is often a good strategy. The expansion teams are actually awesome, almost too good, even though they are the worst by far in the first year. Basically your entire mlb roster is nothing but top five draft pick quality players. Top to bottom you will have stars after two to three seasons. And if you play the games you will have an above average team, with all very cheap players, after year one. |
