Are the abilities you get from the equipment always the same? If they are, then the lvl. 4 moneyman will be useless after a while. I think they are, but I can't confirm it. So far: I think I've found that the Mizzoto Glove Pro gives you the Gold Glove ability and the Dr. K gives you fastball life and Dr. K. Rex's Glove seems to always net a Gold Globe ability. |

I don't think they're the same. I would say they change every time you quit except for the ones you already have. This is speculation that I may have some evidence for if I remember what happened correctly. |

You're probably right, but I hope you're not. All I know is that for the ones I mentioned above, I've gotten the ability every time I use them. |

We may be able to narrow down to the abilities that exist on equipment, but that will obviously take some time in a multiple person effort. |

They aren't the same. I did a little test (had $800 or so) and bought a few items, then quit, moved ahead a few days, went into the shop again and low and behold, the same item had different abilities. |

Actually if you save before you visit the shop, you can visit and reload forever as the inventory seems to be generated on your first visit for a specific turn. Once you visit the shop though, the inventory gets fixed to the one you saw to avoid inconsistencies. I haven't bothered taking notes but each item seems to have a pool of abilities they can have, from which up to two are selected randomly. For example the Dr K glove can have Fastball Life 4 and/or Dr K but will never have a Poise 4 or Spin 4. |

I know that the shoes don't have any abilities at all. I always get the Dr. K for a pitcher - I think it's the best one in terms of abilities. I want to know about the bats. What is "pool" of abilities for each bat? |

Pool or Bag or Set of something, in this case, abilities. All the available abilities are in a "pool" to be randomly selected. The abilities not in the pool have a 0% chance of being picked. |

The ablities that I have gotten from bats are Firstball Hitter (probably the most common), Power Hitter (common with the bats that increase power), Contact Hitter (common with the V-Shot, W-Shot, and X-Shot), Push Hitter, Spray Hitter, Hot Hitter, Tough Out, Clutch Hit, Vs. Lefty, and Table Setter. Also Marvin's Bat always has Good Bunter and +1 Contact. Most of the time it seems you can learn an ability if your player goes 3-4 or 4-4, but some only increase if you do the thing the ability improves. For instance you can go 4-4 against righties, but you aren't going to gain Vs. Lefty unless you get some hits off a lefty. With Clutch Hit you need to get RBIs when you have runners in scoring position. With Table Setter you need to get on base, so you could learn this by going 0-0 and getting beaned 4 times. With Firstball Hitter you need to get a hit off the first pitch. But I have also learned Power Hitter without taking one big swing. The ablities from fielder's gloves are Gold Glove which you can get from either Mizzoto Glove or Mizzoto Pro Glove. The Mizzoto Pro Mitt can give you Great or Good Catcher. Pitcher's gloves can give you Fastball Life, Spin, Poise, Vs. Lefty, Groundball Pitcher, Good Lowball, Dr. K, and Good Reflexes (I maybe forgetting one or two ablities). |

Yeah, that fits everything I've gotten. As for hitters - the Mizzoto GLOVES will give Gold Glover abilities - as will Rex's glove - which is why I like him better than Brad. |

I've purchased a Perfect Shot with abilities that can be unlocked (I'm going for Gd Low Pitch and Spin 4, but I'm going to push MM up to lv 4 and make sure what it has). I ran through the games a few times to test some things out and noticed I never received anything. Does anyone know of any certain criteria that should be met to get these abilities? (ex. Gd Low Pitch might require you to throw a lot of low pitches) |

yes, i believe you do. i found it much easier to get VS Lefty from my glove when I struck out a bunch of lefties. and dr. k. I usually buy my equipment right before the first game of the season - since you cant unlock it any other time anyway. I do whatever the ability I want is, and do that for the world gathering and first tournament game. If I don't get the ability I want, I just restart and buy it again - hopefully with different abilities. Of course MM4 always helps. But buying the glove early, and then returning it later to buy a different one will result in a loss of money. |
