How can I make a character with A - Contact, C or B - Power, and maybe C in all other abilites (Fielding, Run Speed, Arm Strength)?

gamble up on con, trj, run spd, arm str, fld, and e res, gambling helps use less turns to lvl these up, so you have more turns to do strength training for power. Also hyper recovery helps and meeting Dr. Goodjob helps a lot. Dont gamble up on power, since its on a scale of 255, a 1 point difference doesn't matter, but since the other stats are on a 4 or 15 scale, a 1 point difference does make a difference. Also save and load before gambling, so if you fail, you can try again. S/L past injuries also helps. high stats/poor sense is usually good for a hitter since most stats are gamble stats, so you save turns, but it increases points for stats you dont gamle on, such as power. It isnt a bad trade off if you arent raising power very high, but it gets difficult when you get to high B power. either rolling a genius, or changing poor sense into good sense by random events, or maxing ladies man are helpful. Maxing ladies man, however is time consuming, so getting it by a random event is probably a better idea.

I use gamble tickets all the time, and I never use gamble tickets on power, but I can never finish a player with good power. I've made a player before that was excellent in everything but power. I want to make a player with good power for a change.

Just keep working at it and you'll get one eventually. Dr. Goodjob helps and a tip is always practice if the injury rate is 15% or less. Be cautious otherwise.

try raising power first by strength traing, maybe trj once or twice so by the time the first game comes around, i might have e or d, or on a good run, c power, and 2 or 3 trj. by the time the 2nd yr game come around after more str traing, and some swinging/batting practice traing to raise my contact to around d or c and power to B. By the time the 2nd yr games are over, i sually have high B or low A power. that gives me enough timeto raise my other stats. There are some questions i have to ask:

Do you S/L to win the CWS games? every time you win, you get another game. If you do good, you can get a lot of points to spend. Each game gives you many points to spend, and the better you do, the more you get.

Do you also buy abilities? Some abilities can be bought through equipment, which can free up points for your stats.

Do you hit hyper recovery? For your first 2 hyper recoveries, if you train usually around 4-6 strength trainings, you can hit +99 strength, which is very useful for upgrading power.

Do you use mind training? It upgrades your bookworm every time you train so you spend less turns studying and more turns practicing, you can also buy a graduates charm to double the bookworm you get.

Yeah the more games you play the more experience points you get!

heres a tip for goodjob

S/L for him after the WG and CR games in the 3rd yr. He is the only random event possible, so you will be more likely to get him. Always challenge him on these dates, if its unsuccesful, reload and try again. If you meet him before then, go for the low risk low return card (yes) or have him fix a weakness. I think this changes pr sense into gd sense.

Also, by using mind training, if you get to maxed bookworm. S/L studying to get pressurized training ( or maybe intensified, i cant recall) to make strength training more effective and helps get +99 hyper recovery quicker. I have been able to get it in only 2 turns.

I don't usually buy new equipment until the end when I'm editing my player and boosting abilities for the final time.

I think I'm going to go with this strategy. The character I'm making isn't going so well. The story has begun to turn on me, and not for the better. I know how to make a semi-good player, but if the story doesn't go my way, I end up making a very bad player.

So even though I'm almost 2/3 through, I'll restart because my player is sucking right now.

the equipment gives you stat boosts, which can help in games, and unlock abilities. If you have maxed money man, you can see the abilities the bat gives. So you can buy a bat that will give a high cost ability, or an ability that you cant buy.

I've done a character with all B's and decent abilities and what I did was:

Strength train and h-recovery for the first year -> everything goes to power.
2nd year: Strength train and practice fielding and gamble to get your other stats to D's and maybe get some abilities.
3rd year: Strength train and practice fielding and gamble to get your stats (other than power) to the C-B range. Then once you're satisfied with that, just do what I did in year one for the remainder of year two.

I believe his abilities was: Clutch 5, Risp 5, Power hitter, Gold glove, Durability and Consistency. Not too great on the abilities side when you compare him to other success mode players with every single ability but compared to the major leaguers in the game, he was definitely up there in terms of stats and abilities combined.

The hardest part of the success mode is getting started. The jump from G-D is way larger than the jump from D-A so as long as you get a good start, you should be able to make characters with almost all B's and maybe one or two C's and some decent abilities.

Wow, thanks! This sounds like a really good strategy! :D
