I just can't seem to beat the Champion Rings. I keep reloading, to see if I can get a game where I score, but I don't. I'm captain, so I can try to win in the end, but I suck at batting with these god-awful players. Can anyone give me any batting tips?

This isn't a batting tip but, if you are captain, no matter how bad your team is, you should be able to keep reloading, until your team is ahead going into the eighth inning. Then, just don't let them score on you.

Don't go for big swing - most of your guys will just fly out. If you DO use big swing, either do it with your own player when he has a high power, or if you are good enough with your timing, hit the ball dead-on and right back up the middle. Otherwise, stick with normal and try to hit some stuff out of the infield.

Be patient; take walks, and move your player into wild pitches; hit batsmen are the only way to win the Superstar game. It's a good ploy in the CR as well.

Psychic goggles help you anticipate the oncoming pitch; if its a fastball, it wont move much, so you can use big swing and unload.

Also, items - the Rookie Charm can help your batting immensely.

Finally, play a lot of practice exhibition games in hard modes, without lock-on or anything. That will get you used to the timing of the swing and hitting. Once you can compete with the computer in a hard game, success mode batting gets pretty easy (just ask rsohooo, with his Marvin characters he created. :))

I'll try those things. I normally sell off the Rookie's Charm, because it lowers your point gains from games. I don't rely on the psychic goggles, because it seemed to be more wrong than right for me when I used it. I had been using normal swings, but I guess I just kinda sucked at batting. It did just seem like I would make great contact, and just line out though. Oh well. Thank you for answering!

You are going it the right way, you just need to be more patient. If you are lining out, you are about 10% there,

Make sure you aren't too early/late on pitches (pulling/slapping the ball) all the time so the defense skews in that direction more often than not.

If you feel you are popping out more, get the bat higher on the ball to force more grounders or lower it and force them into high line drives. Since I assume your guy has lvl 1-2 trajectory, try upgrading to a 2-3 (not 4 unless you've gotten B+ to A power).

I usually wait until I'm at a C to up trajectory to 3, and I've never gotten high enough to put it at 4. I do seem to pull the ball a lot though, with every player, not just mine, so either I pop it up, or I hit it right at someone. I guess I just have to work on that.

One thing you can do to check that is if you play full games in season or exhibition mode, after the game when viewing the stats you can see the distribution of your hits. For me, the majority of my distribution is up the middle. If you imagine a shortstop and 2nd baseman playing at doubleplay depth, most of my hits are between those two spots. So with the Tulips I get a lot of base hits that go right over the shortstop's or 2nd baseman's head, or are grounders or liners up the middle that the pitcher doesn't knock down.

I think that it could be that I can only hit with people with good contact, because in my season, I do generally hit a lot of them up the middle, except with people like Carlos Delgado, who are pull hitters.

I've gotten good at slapping the ball as the tulips. Against the champion Rings I was down 5-0 7 hits and 6 runs later I'm basking in Championship Glory! I even scored two runs off the superstars but unfortunatly they scored 5 off Robin.
