What kind of event will give u skill books beside Christmas and Valentine's Day?

I think you can find those in random events, such as cleaning your room.

At the end of the game, at the final customization screen, the shop sells Surprise Bags. Most of them have useless items that I just re-sell. However, I did get a skill book in the bags once. Unfortunately, there is no way to save/load so the only way is to be lucky, or have a lot of money - sell champion ring.

aye, but the most reliable spot to grab em is when dating on Christmas/Valentine's Day, as they will almost always net you something (if you have the fate card and/or cash/gift.

what does a fate card do for the surprise bags?

Totally off topic, but my success mode character drew a BASE ON BALLS against the Champion Rings Ocean. I don't think it did anything, and I didn't save because my team lost, but, it was amazing because I never thought it possible.

Also, what do you recommend:

1: Win the Champion Game in 2nd year but only going 1 for 3 with a single

OR

2: Lost the 2nd year Champion game, but go 4 for 4 with a home run and double (adding hot zones)

I'm not sure just how valuable the ring is.

The champion ring nets a +1/+2 to experience gained? (someone check me on this please), and a small increase every time you gain exp is a huge boost for a small vit cost (consider PWR is only 9 strength).

Tough call. I'd probably take the ring and move on, as the hot zones can pop up the following year. A bonus is still a bonus.

Depends on your strategy. I'm an admitted save/reload/gamble junkie so the added pts wouldn't really do me any good since I never pay full price for any abilities or stat upgrades. If you don't follow this strategy then I'd probably take the ring. Besides, if the strike zone is that important to you, you could always save/reload your next few games until your guy has another huge game.

But that's too much to ask for.

Again, it just depends on how important it is to you. That's about the only way I know of that you can have your cake and eat it too. Otherwise, you'll have to make some tough decisions. Its a shame that they didn't make this mode more based on skill then on luck, but I guess they were just trying to keep it balanced.

How much of an impact on points does a good game give?

Does a home run give a huge stat boost or not? I'm just trying to get a lot of A's, hot zones don't matter.

How often did you gamble for Ultimate? After every practice? Did you have a minimum percentage (i.e. only gamble on at least 40%)? That's what I did (except not every practice, but many) and my character still barely got only one A.

Here's a theoretical question:

Would you rather have a 'B' in FLD or the Gold Glover blue skill at the end of Success Mode?

Gold Glover if E Res is B or better (otherwise, what's the point of turning the cool plays if you bobble it 20% of the time).

Otherwise, B FLD. I'd take the .980 fld avg over the "highlight reel" play that occurs once every 5-10 games.

I gambled every time I got points from anywhere; whether it was practice, a game, or an event. As long as you have at least 1 pt in a category that is required for an upgrade, you can gamble for that ability/stat. What I would mostly do is the long toss practice. It gave me enough strength to upgrade my power once, and then I used the leftovers to gamble on whatever. I would pick out which ones I needed most and then gamble for the ones with the highest percentages. I tried to keep it above 10%, but I have no problem gambling for anything, no matter how low. There isn't much that dips below 10%. If you do the math, something with 40% means that on average you will be successful on 4 out of 10 (or 2 out of every 5) times you gamble. Not bad, but if you cut that in half and make it 20%, you figure a success rate of 1 in 5 tries. Still not bad, and that opens the door a little wider on what you can choose from. Consider that I got Ultimate largely from gambling; I didn't do the "Dad helps you train" or "Dr. Goodjob" events. This was my first time through, and I know that a better player is possible. In fact, while I've been tracking random events for the wiki I've started a new one. Figured if I was going to be reloading anyway I might as well benefit from it. And the hot zone is one of the things I'm going to fix this time around. I didn't realize how it worked the first time; I never did hit for power when I played the games in Success; I hadn't played a season yet so I was learning how to bat as I went. I thought going 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a couple of RBIs was good. Little did I know...

Sorry, I can't help you with the points you receive from games; I haven't started tracking that yet.
