which one do you think is harder to get into the minors? I think fielders are hard because you are totally dependant on your batting it seems, and against the champion rings it's very hard to get a hit off, let alone get someone in scoring position

I'll say fielders.

If you don't have Alvin as a fielder you'll find yourself trailing by a bit going into the 8th inning (assuming you're captain). As a pitcher, as long as he's good, you won't have this problem.

It's easier to control the game as a pitcher.

Of course, maybe it's just me. I've been through Success Mode a few times, netting pretty average players. The fielding is foreign to me, and the hitting is impossible. I just keep resetting until my team has a lead going into the 8th inning (I'm make sure I'm captain).

As a pitcher, I always get hit with puny little injuries that sideline me for weeks. I've been trying to make a sixth starter for my arrange team, and have had to restart like 7 times. Chipped nails and insomnia all over the place

Pitchers seem to get all of the little weiner injuries while fielders have to break a bone before they're in the hospital

i've only gotten injured through practice lacking vitality, but they all do that

I got insomnia after "finding out" that the kid you play catch with in the park is a ghost.

Can you give me the low-down with the kid you play catch with?

it's tricky because about the third time you see him in the park, the choices are inexplicably reversed. selecting "go play catch with him" makes you ignore him, and selecting "ignore him" makes you go play catch with him.

on about the 4th encounter, you don't find the kid there, and a girl tells you he went to the hospital, saying it was "AAA" hospital. you go to the hospital and ask about him, and they say he died several months ago. later, in a random event, you go to the park and he's there again, and you call him out as a ghost, and he then explains that he was actually at "CCC" hospital, and the girl made a mistake. I ended up getting "Throwing 4" from him.

I've picked up insomnia from selecting yes to watching all 23 episodes of a TV show in one sitting -lol-

For me, I find position players easier to develop than pitchers, but neither are particularly hard if you save frequently and are willing to reload if you hit big negative events like injuries.

I'm just now starting my third success mode, this time with a pitcher.

The first time, my power hitting first baseman wasn't really that great, and the second one I was captain, got injured, and the team lost a game and had to disband.

Now I'm trying with a pitcher. So far I've stayed patient, and never restarted after a bad event or injury, but if this one goes poorly, I may just start.

Both have their challenges.

It is harder to get on the roster the first year as a pitcher with Robbie, Toby, and Alvin all ahead of you. But you can have your stamina and control set up by the end of the first year. The rest is breaking balls and abilities.

For hitters you really just need to get on base decently. But if you are a singles guy, or a great fielder, you have to rely on weak hitting team mates and Alvin the get you anywhere.

Once you get some hitting under your belt and you keep the rookie charm, hitting home runs and doubles really helps your player and the game. Also keeping Alvin on your team sure helps as a hitter, because he is really only the decent pitcher.

My strategy is to NOT become the captain when playing as a hitter so I can smack homers out all game and get those good hitting zones and huge bonus to stat points. Just make sure you keep Alvin on the team though, it's a lot harder to win without him.

I've found that being a catcher with Grt Catcher ability helps keep the opposition runs down. I also randomly got Trash Talk, which also helps keep the opposition batters unsettled, although I've never seen my Catcher Trash Talk anyone.

depends, i doubt AJ talks during the game anyways... it's more likely a sim-ability that has a chance to lower contact/power to opposing batters, getting progressively higher as the at-bat and game wears on. Think Sandlot movie and you've got the idea...
