I like making pitchers with a wicked awesome changeup. That single pitch is more forgiving then any other pitch I have found. I have gone through the All Star Game throwing nothing but change ups (even level 1!) straight down the middle. The same is usually true in season mode as well. The AI just seems to have a hard time hitting the pitch for some reason.

I have a success mode starting pitcher that I managed to get a level 5 splitter. Very powerful, I love throwing it high only to watch it fall just within the strike zone, then throw another down the middle and watch them chase it to the ground.

My general approach with pitchers (general, not a rule) is to have one good downward pitch and one good horizontal or horizontal/down pitch to go with my fastball. Like one pitcher I made ended up with a 96mph fastball, a level 6 vertical slider, and a level 7 slow curve. Another only had a 92mph fastball but had a level 7 knuckler, level 5 drop curve, and level 4 hard shuuto. He's a fun guy to pitch with. I'm working on Nolan Ryan now, and my intent is to get the fastball to 100 and have a level 6 curve and level 3 changeup to go with it (reflective of reality for him). Then an A in stamina and whatever I can get in control :)

With the horizontal moving pitches, I find good success going backdoor - having the pitches start off the plate and then break back over the outside corner.

I'm intending to, I'll probably take pictures of the password screens and post them this week. Probably after I finish up Nolan Ryan (waiting on my 9 year old to get off the Wii in about 20 minutes so I can have my turn!).

Honestly I hadn't done it already because while I've made some decent players, the maxed out players that other guys have done are better than what I've produced. I do a fair amount of save/reload, but I don't have the patience to hardcore metagame it like some people do -lol-

At`what point does control become a B? My guy has C control at 148 and I was wondering if I had a chance at B control.

ahhhh. I think I can do that. I just finished the 4th week May game of the last year. Two games left, I think I can average over 45 tech points a game.

Which explains why I see you online late.

Can you guys help flesh out the rest of the Rank page? Caps and A-G levels for everything would be great.

I probably should have asked this earlier, but which sinking pitch do people like best: 2SFB, SIFB, SNK, or H-SNK? It looks like the 2SFB is mostly downward, whereas the SIFB and SNK have some arm-side motion (screwball/shuuto like) but I have yet to play with a 2SFB myself, or a H-SNK. My SNK guy is lvl 1 and he uses it as a surprise pitch, as his bread and butter is a lvl 5 KN.

I have a level 6 SIFB guy with top speed 92, and he also has lvl 4 chg and sld. He tends to get knocked around when I control him but in sim mode he just threw a 3-hit shutout, so maybe my strategy has not been so good. My strategy has been to mix up the three pitches low in the zone with the occasional high 4SFB. The CHG has been a good whiff pitch but the SIFB often gets hit for a line drive instead of a grounder. He has the groundpall P and good low pitch blue abilities.

(on the other hand, I have a lefty lvl 6 screwballer, top speed 91, lvl 3 sld guy whose ERA is 0.7 a month and a half into the season; I've been using the same offspeed low/FB high strategy, but with the size of the break on the screwball there's more potential for backdooring and burrowing down and in).
