My shortstop is a Star but he's not that good so I bench him a lot
Not sure how he got it but it just makes him cost more

you can only play the last game of the first year. ive only played it a few times. and to be a "star", you get that when alvin gets hurt and leaves the team. |

In order to play the last game of the season in your first year, you'll need to PRACTICE and improve your coach's evaluation so he puts you on the team (happens on the first of May if I recall). Star can be possibly be obtained if you are a catcher and you learn to catch Alvin's knuckler. |

Challenging Becky on a date at the Park (I think) can get the STAR ability. |

sometimes (I think) getting the max lvl in ladies man rating can get you a star. |

It kind of makes sense. I usually only get Good Sense, though. |
