I'm working on creating an Abbott and Costello team (you know, Who on 1B, What at 2B, I Don't Know at 3B...) and I got started in on another player who began the game with a toothache. How often has this happened to you guys?

it happens every once in a while - usually accompanied by good stats, or good sense. a visit to the hospital will cure it

I figured as much about going to the doctor, but I don't think I had good sense. In fact, the player ended up at Lone Wolf status, which is a little annoying.

Here's hoping I don't get poor cards when talking to Mr. Fox!

If you got Lone Wolf it'll be tough to make a player that is very good. I turned out a serviceable reliever with Lone Wolf, but I did it more as just for fun - I didn't save a single time the entire game either :)

Now that's gotta be tough; I still haven't made a pitcher yet, but I don't think I could play through an entire success mode run without saving. I'm sure I probably will eventually though for fun.

I do about 95% of my success mode runs without saving, simply because it allows me to race through the storylines quickly and take notes for this here wiki... and yet I'm successful almost 50% of the time now (sometimes, I just get injured too much and spend endless annoying weeks with marvin and those damned gundam robots).

I got injured once before the game(s) in Year 2. I ended up making it by virtue of winning the tournament in Year 3, but may have done the save/quit method there when it came to winning the games.

I usually only save/quit on lost games now, and not even all of them; depends on how the character is going.

On the run through I mentioned above, I was fairly fortunate. I only got injured twice, only once put me in the hospital and it was just a 3 week stay. I also managed to win the games. I did lose to the Champion Rings in year 2, but beat them in year 3 so I even got to play the Superstars game.

I did have to alter the way I played, resting a lot more and I only gambled maybe 3 times the entire game (all with 60%+ chance). Of course, looking below, you can see he isn't exactly a stud - but still better than the typical Season Mode drafted player.

I've had that happen twice before. Every bad stat that involves sickness or injury is more then worth it to me. The only "injury" thats not worth it is Insomia because it usually takes me 1-2 years to get rid of it.

I got toothache on a recent player. I went to the doctor 4 times in the first four weeks and each time he said, the tooth next to it needs work. After the fourth time or the doc tellling me the next tooth needs work, I just reset it because it drives me crazy! That happens with just about every player that starts off with a toothache for me. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes. I'll take a character with Laziness and Insomnia every time over a player with only toothache. Insomnia you can get rid of via studying, and laziness with a 20 credit medicine, but toothache is annoying and unpredictable so I avoid it at all costs.

Seriously. Some of my players with insomnia are never affected by it. I've gone entire rounds without a player saying "I can't sleep" and losing vitality.
