i believe i am no paying for my usually getting the gambling ring so easy...i have no opened bag/quit/reloaded for the better part of two hours and still no ring...just wanted to share my experience

final count... 2 hours 6 minutes...but success..hahaha..anyone else got horror stories like this

There's only one time I ever try to get a Gambling Ring -- choose the same present twice from Sarah at Christmas year 2 and 3. Guaranteed ring. Other than that, I prefer to churn out quality players every 3-4 hours, not 3-4 days.

yeah i was bored and usually would have given up but after a while i was just curious how long it would take

for some time i didn't read the little comments that come up after using the gambling ring and wasn't realizing that it broke and saving after...i couldn't understand why i kept losing it

The first time I got it, it broke on the 3rd use. I thought that it was supposed to break, and hadn't really learned the finer aspects of save/loading. Needless to say, that guy was below average to me.

it usually takes me forever to get the ring, which is why i almost never try for it (i use tickets instead and end up with less than godlike players, which is okay by me).

there are two players that i made that i wanted to be incredible, though: mike schmidt and steve carlton. when i made my schmidt, it took me almost two full hours to get the ring. when i made my carlton, however, i got it on the second try! and if that wasn't crazy enough, i ended up getting a second ring from cleaning my dorm room (i sold it).

anyway, my carlton ended up with A stamina, top speed 101, 7 slider, 7 h-slider, 7 v-slider, 1 changeup, 1 curveball, and lots of blue abilities. he and schmidt are dominating in my season mode!

I've made about a dozen guys with the ring, and I average about 30 minutes to 45.

It's not getting the ring that's the problem. It's trying to get secrets of pitching or hitting. I tried and I got like 5 rings before getting one.

Same here. The secrets take so long. I usually get a ring before the books. But if I want the ring, I always seem to get the books.

When I tried to get the ring I ended up getting secrets of hitting and used it for a contact hitter.

Why contact hitter? You can get that with practice points. You should of used it to get something that isn't as easy to acquire like BL hitter or something.

If I'm going for SoP or SoH books, I reload for the Prof. HW REs. Its fairly easy to get them that way; I only have to reload a handful of times when turning in the HW for him to give me one.

Does the professor usually give secrets of hitting, or defense?

SoP for pitchers, SoD and SoH for hitters.

I don't recall seeing one or the other more often.
