Post subject:  Starting Abilities

While I'm sure the exact stats vary by a small amount (perhaps they don't) but I thought we should nail down the different starting stats/conditions for success mode and perhaps just how rare they are. I'll start with:

Lone Wolfer

Stocks one fate card,
Most abilities (5 of them usually) at F. With PWR around 55.



I want to get a sense of how rare geniuses are or just how good the starting stats for Gd sense have been. And what negative traits come with it (ie laziness and timidity)

Thank god for this game. Makes up for my lack of MVP Baseball.

I've noticed almost every time I get good sense I have laziness.

I've gotten gd sense a few times without any negatives. And I'm not talking about gd sense/gd stats, which seem to never have negatives.

I had a good sense character with 2 g's, 4 f's, and an e. No negatives at all. That was a one in a thousand.

good sense? I'd say that or poor sense should be around a one in ten chance.

I can't wait until I get a genius - that'll be a few weeks of save/loading.

do selecting different pitching styles or batting styles effect the beginning stats?

like if i select pitch with randy johnson's form do i automatically get curveball 1 or 80 mph pitches?

I don't think so. I'm creating a Hoyt Wilhelm, using Tim Wakefield's stance, and there's nothing special. And it changes every time. I didn't like the 78 top speed and F stamina the first time and re-did it for 80 top speed. I wish it was your way, though. :lol:

It isn't an ability like good sense, but it refers to having good sense and good starting abilities.

If you look at a players abilities, next to his name is a blue rectangle.

It will either say Normal (for 98% of the created characters), Success (for all the guys exclusive to Success Mode - Alvin, Patrick, etc), or Genius (for Genii, the other 2% of your guys).

Yeah, Genius isn't really an ability. It's more of a condition for your overall start. I remember when it was thought to be an ability gotten from reaching "home plate" with Annie, akin to Intimidator from Becky. :lol:

so with the genius condition do you start with like contact hitter or power hitter or just higher that normal stats with good sense?
