I got hothead once during some random event with Marvin. I think it was after the New York dialog and I played a challenge card.

There isn't really a set way to get them.

You can get Break Up DP during the Lawn Maint. job. There is one where you go sliding on the grass and sometimes you can get it that way. Or in the grocery store when dashing for Powerin if you play the challenge.

In the "Marvin's burgers" RE, if you choose "no" you'll steal one of his burgers and he'll chase after you. Your Stealing has a chance of going down, I'm guessing 33% of the time. If you never upgrade I assume it would knock you down to 2.

As for 2nd Pos 4, I posted in another thread the idea of becoming captain, then changing game lineups so that you're playing your 2nd pos. I haven't been able to test this, hopefully someone who decides to be captain will give it a whirl. I'd try it out but I think I'm moving on to Pitchers at the moment; making Gaia burnt me out a little on fielders.

I don't want to be a pessimist or anything, but maybe not all of them *are* obtainable through success mode - like Gd/Pr Rain.

But if the 2nd pos. 4 was, I would wager that you get it by acquiring the ability before asked to switch positions. So if you started off as a CF, then obtained the 2nd position Cf beforehand, you could have it upgraded - wait,
is it even possible to get the 2nd Pos. ability for your starting Pos.?

What happens to a third baseman when Rex/Brad comes, do they just get benched?

I got breakup dp when.... actually I'm pretty sure it's when I took Becky to the movies. Sarah found us there though and she broke up with me.

it could be something to do with a sum of ARM, FLD and E RES

edit: List updated according to various contributions Breakup DP - Challenge @ Sarah when she asks you to become a major leaguer / Challenge @ Free Powerins event / Lawn mower job / Cheat on a GF and get dumped 2nd Position 4 - Get Annie's telephone number (Must have two or more positions at the time of event) Throwing 2 - Get injured Baserunning 2 Stealing 2 - No @ Marvin's burger event in locker room Consistency 2 VS Lefty 1/2 Cold Hitting Zones - Strike out with the bases loaded to end an inning VS LH Batter 2 Pr Morale - No @ Position Switch event Hothead - Challenge @ New York event Walk I'm particularly interested in Hothead and 2nd Position 4 so I'll donate 100 credits to whoever finds out how to get those As for Breakup DP I heard it's randomly acquired by Challenging Sarah when she asks you to become a big leaguer, but haven't confirmed it yet. Yes, but the abilities themselves aren't randomly assigned to events, so knowing the right choices for each event will at least give you a shot at acquiring a specific ability.

At the same time, all the abilities you gain from game experience seem to be unlocked from your gear. So it'd be inconsistent with that if you could just obtain 2nd Position 4 by playing your character in a certain way.

When Rex/Brad comes and you are a 3B, they get benched and you keep on starting.

2nd position 4 My theory is it has to do with the FLD level at the point when you're asked to switch. Thus being a good fielder at your old position translates to being good at your 2nd position after the switch. I had Lv9 FLD for the key position switch event in April Year 1 (the one automatically triggered for 2B/CF when you make the team in the 1st year) with this in mind, but I got nothing. Of course Lv9 might not be enough (tho I figure it's pretty good relative to level of players within Success Mode), or it could be something to do with a sum of ARM, FLD and E RES.

I got breakup dp when.... actually I'm pretty sure it's when I took Becky to the movies. Sarah found us there though and she broke up with me. (Her heart rating was also pretty high.) Becky liked me more after that and I'm fairly certain that's when I got the ability. Not 100% though.

Quote: it could be something to do with a sum of ARM, FLD and E RES yeah, but the total might be a bit impossible with the "default" study and work strategy most of us use for the beginning of the game. unless there is some way to get another position switch later in the game, it seems there would need to be sacrifices made to get this ability. Random thought: If Robbie is the captain, and Toby is the so-called ace and next captain, why does my player (the rookie) get the start?

I've gotten Pr Morale from playing a No card as a CF when Robbie asked me to switch positions. Got Throwing 2 a time or two as fallout from getting injured. Stealing 2 was already pointed out, I got it with Babe Ruth from playing a No card on buying Marvin's burgers in the locker room. Picked up a cold hitting zone by striking out with the bases loaded to end an inning in a game. Only had that happen once though.
