I met the Doc at his house for the first time - did stronger thing, and challenged. No success.

But I also saw 5 other options and the one about learning a skill I didn't have was intriguing. Anyone know what the other options do, and what fate cards (if any) to choose?

The other choices don't do anything. Stick with the I want to be stronger option.

How much boost does the Yes card give in the stronger option?

I want some boosts, but the challenge is too much, I want a solid reflection of Jeff Clement, although I went too high on contact - but only one level - high-C became low-B.

The yes card gave my Ortiz character 15 power and a 1 increase in a couple of other categories. I also received a decent amount of experience points in every category along with full vitality.

So it looks like half of what you get for a challenge, but there still must be two outcomes for Yes. My guy didn't receive any ability boosts, just exp points and vitality when I used a Yes card. So I guess choosing Yes or Challenge are both gambles, just to different degrees.

Can he only be visited for a treatment once?

I assume the challenge card is for the second meeting at his place, because if I use it the first time, instead of getting his address, my guy just recovers to full vitality - which wouldn't have been bad if my guy was in the week before the Superstar Game.

Didn't you post somewhere (I'm assuming in another thread since I can't find it) that you ran into Dr. GJ late in the 3rd season? I know this might be asking much, but do you remember what date that was? I thought you said before the SuperStars game, but I thought that the last RE date was 3rd Wk of May, right before the last regular season game. If you could clear this up for me it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There are two weeks before the Superstar game, right after the Champion Rings game. I met him right after the first one - going into the second one. I was save/loading to get a gambling ring somehow - mine had broken and I saved accidentally. But yeah, I'm pretty sure that's right.

Ok, so my first character got Dr. GJ during the course of one of the regular seasons. He randomly appeared twice during the season, and my challenge card failed both times.

I'm currently s/ling my way in the weeks past the last championship camp and am well into my second hour of doing so. With the anywhere from 4-45 reloads it takes to get him to appear to the 1/10 chance that the challenge card will actually up your stats this s/l set has been the most frustrating ever.... am I doing something wrong? Should I be choosing the yes card?

I can't even imagine s/ling this like Gao explained with the hard software reset you need to use for the week of the game.... Ugh this is ridiculous.

And word to the wise, while resetting to get Dr.GJ do an activity that will not randomly injure you... like sleep...

Edit: Current long streaks: 56 straight 24sec reloads without an appearance; 11 straight failed appearances....

Edit: Omfg... finally *(censored)* got it after 3 hours of spamming reloads... I swear this event was designed for the incredibly bored/easily entertained or the developmentally disabled.... jesus...

I tried reloading for a random event, too (room-cleaning for a surprise bag), and took me over an hour (granted, I was also watching Rock of Love 2, so that divided my concentration). When I got it, I cleaned and got an effing pillow.

Post subject:  finally got him

Wow - after making like 15 characters in Success mode - and failing at a few others - I finally had my first appearance of Dr Goodjob. It happened in April of year 3. It also coincided with dating Becky (tho I got dumped by her after not calling for a few months)

Now after reading the pages, there's nothing I can do but wait for my character to visit Goodjob, right? I pitched a shutout in the tournament game, the finals, and the college kings game...so now I'm just waiting for the All Star game.

Will my character definitely visit him? Or is it another % chance thing?

Same with the Shady Accessories guy - I think he's shown up twice, in all the games I've played - counting plently of save/reloading.
Other things I still have yet to do:
- get the Mob Job
- have my dad teach me anything, ever
- obtain Gyroball
- end up with Becky

Getting the 2nd visit is not a guarantee, and something you might have to reload for.

Getting the Mob Job, is random, too, although you obviously have to quit your current job.

My advice to dating Becky is to do most of it in the 2nd year, and getting married as soon as possible. Third year practices are too important to waste with the Champion Ring.

You can get Gyroball by dating Becky, and I've had more success doing that, than the Annie route.

I discovered something last night that I never noticed before and I wanted to get confirmation on. I kept putting off reloading for the second Dr. Goodjob visit, intending to do it either the May Week 4 after beating the World Gatherings, or June Week 3 after beating the Champion Rings. However, once I got to the year 3 games, I did not get another single random event even on those two off weeks. I literally reloaded 10-15 times after the game against the WG and 20 times between beating the CR and the Superstars game - nada.

So can someone confirm whether this was a sick fluke, or are RE's definitely done at this point? I was *not* happy because I had positioned my player such that the Dr. GJ boost was going to get him right where I wanted him to be. But in the end I couldn't get any RE to fire, which was really frustrating since my player feels a bit incomplete to me without it.
