In and Out is good, but they're also overrated.

Being from Southern California I've eaten my fair share of In and Out and I can say their burgers and cheeseburgers are good if you get them with grilled onions(or just animal style for people not worried about a heart attack waiting to happen) but their fries are terrible at best; their shakes are also pretty good though. In and Out is kinda like the burger version of Starbucks, people want to hang out and be seen there like it's hot or somethin.

Seconded. I'm kind of over In N Out just from college. It's open late and it's better than Jack in the Box. I guess it's too much of a good thing. As for it being the trendy spot, it was in High School 10 years ago I didn't know it still was. Damn I'm getting old.

I haven't gone to In & Out yet, but have driven past them enough times. I did stop by Pink's, because I have seen it on those cooking shows a million times, and it was really good. The line was long, but it moved fast. Worth the trip for sure.

Ah Pinks. Sorry but I can't find a single reason to justify my waiting in line for an hour just for a hot dog.

GAHH! Vegitarrian! I'm from CT. My favorite chains, if you even can call them that, are Pret and Jamba Juice. Pret is only in big cities like New York City and Jamba is only in the west coast and big cities like NY(possibly only in New York).

I had a co worker today tell me that In & Out had something of a hidden menu... items not normally listed but that they will make upon request. Anyone got any info on these "hidden" items?

Animal Style Frys : Frys with grilled onions and special sauce on them

Animal Style: Burger with mustard grilled into meat, extra grilled onions, pickles

Protein Style: Wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun ("low carb")

Grilled Cheese: Cheese , no meat.

Shake Combos: You can ask for any combination of flavors in your shake, neopolatin comes to mind

X (by)X : You can get any number combo of cheese and meat. Double Double , triple triple, etc.

Has a more detailed explanation, with pictures, even some i didn't mention.

You can pretty much ask for anything, and they will do it. The above are popular named creations that they will recognize. Another random fact: the managers at In-And-Out are the ones that man the grill.

*notices that this is WAY off topic*

Monster = Animal

I seem to hear it called Animal Style more often than not in my neck of the metal/concrete woods.

Same here in the desert, most people only refer to it as animal style. Man, those are the only time their fries are good, but that's a heart attack waiting to happen.

Animal Style Fries = So wrong

Maybe it's just me but I think their fries are soggy enough.

That was a typo, animal style is the correct term for the burger.

I do. They're much better than Subway. I always order the Hook and Ladder.
