That reminds me, if you want someone to be on the DL, if it's an outfielder run them into the wall, catcher the same. Everyone else get HBP in the torso/head. Pitchers, well make them pitch consecutively, or an entire game, they're bound to get injured.
That aside, I think the best ability for a power hitter is "Slugger". Power Hitter is important as well (obviously). Why? Well, look at Miguel Cabrera. He has higher power than A-Rod, and better contact. But he doesn't have the Slugger ability and/or the Power Hitter ability.
Of course, clutch hit is good as well.

One of the walk-off hitter descriptions is "homers often with the bases loaded" That implies power.

He said pure power hitter, not situational power hitter ;)

Yeah, but there aren't that many, IMO, so I decided to put some "reaches." I guess if I wanted I would say Durability 4 because an injured power hitter on the DL doesn't hit for any power.

Exactly. You could even make a case for Great Infield Hitter because it would help the player's average, and by extension RBI. But then it would just be easier to say get every blue ability because they can only be good.

I simmed a season with two of my success guys, one with a 150 power and more abilities, and another with 210 power but less abilities. The weaker guy came up with a higher average, more HR's, and over 200 RBI.

Raw stats are great, but abilities can compensate for lower stats depending on what you are looking for.

Abilities tend to over-compensate in sim mode.

For example BL Hitter boosts hitting power in bases loaded situations. Not very helpful if you already have 255 power. But in sim mode, it makes the player hit more homers in BL situations by fiddling with percentages.

Like I said earlier, it comes down to whether the discussion is about great sim player or great player to use.
