You are not alone.

Every time I became captain for the Second Year (with a Challenge Card), Alvin has left and Toby has left. This is true for fielders and pitchers for me.

Alvin leaving hurts, because those second year games become painful and hard to win. The third year games are hard as well. With Alvin, third year games have both Alvin and Robbie. Without, only Robbie pitches and then you have to bring in a scrub when he gets tired.

Toby leaving powers up all the pitchers, so I don't mind that.

I must be lucky then... I never have a problem with keeping Alvin around when I want him. It's cause and effect. Something is being done to make Alvin leave. I find that doing one or two things a certain way will keep him around. Keep in mind that Alvin has the negative ability "Sandbag'.

Like letting him borrow your bat when he asks... (Yes card). Or involving him with Becky (like when she asks you to her place for (burnt) dinner).

Some of those pitchers I find actually work better than others even though their stats are about the same.

Also I think you mean Robin, Robbie was the older one.
