Where did Marvin switch to when you beat him out? I know that he can play 2nd, but Peter is there. The most reasonable other position is LF, but that's taken, too.

What happens if you create a 3B? What happens when Rex/Brad comes? Can a pitcher get Rex's glove?

My pitcher just got rex's glove. Never really used it though because the only fielding pitchers need is reflexes.

When I beat out Marvin he went to SS. Same for Milton, which was goofy because Milton is left handed (Marvin bats left but throws right).

Neither time I've done a 3B have I gotten asked to switch because of Brad or Rex (one time with each). In both cases, they were just bench players. I found out the hard way that even if I've captain and make lineup changes before the game starts, Coach Stone will make a mess of my lineup so that by the time I get control in the 8th I've got nothing worthwhile left on the bench and all the players I started got subbed out -lol-

Yeah, I hate that. I just have to wait until the 8th inning to make switches. Depending on who's pitching (my guy, Alvin, or Robin), I'll sub one or both Alvin and Robin to RF and 1B. Because their are also some of the best hitters.

I've also tried to move myself to another position. I was 3B and moved myself to SS to make room for Brad/Rex because of the situation you described. That way, Coach Stone would keep Brad/Rex at 3B and my better defense would keep me at SS.

This didn't work out. I was subbed for in the later innings by some scrub.

A bizarre way to get around this is to get the 2nd Pos-> SS ability from the upgrade screen. (Probably only a Gambler's alternative. If you don't gamble, then this becomes more painful.)

This gives your second position a "C" rating, instead of an "F" rating. This way, you won't ever get subbed out, and you get all the good hitters into the lineup.

Unlocking a 2nd Position isn't the issue for me, it's gaining the blue ability 2nd Pos 4 that seems to elude everyone so far... Thus a utility infielder can be A-B-B-C around the horn....

Maybe this has been played out before, but has anyone tried to get 2ndPos from the upgrade screen (such as SS, or 2B or 3B) and play at that 2nd position for all of Success mode?

It's a lot easier to get it in Season Mode. I've gotten Howie Kendrick to have A's at SS,3B,2B,C and a B at 1B.

Perhaps off topic, but does that occur because you play him at those positions? How long does it take?

No. In spring training, you can choose to convert positions for a player, giving them A at another position. He started off A at 2B, and B at 1B. I've given him a new position each year I've had him. Next up, all 3 OF and P.

I tried that with my Johnny Bench. I gave him 2nd Position 1B early in the game, and for some reason Coach Stone kept swapping me and Mark. So after a couple of games I just ended up starting Bench at 1B and playing it out. Didn't get a boost to 2nd position.

And it still remains a mystery. Maybe it's some random event. Could it be something from Dad's training for fielders? Has anyone done that yet? Or maybe it's from one of Goodjob's treatments?

I might make a run through tonight or tomorrow and test that theory - whether choosing "improve a weakness" with GJ or dad can land 2nd Position 4.

It would have to be from dad since I tried all of goodjob's options and I didn't get second position 4.

you're also asked to switch to right field if you play left and make the roster in the first year.

I was making a utility guy for my AT. Started him at second, agreed to switch to SS, and then bought 3B as a second position. I went to gable for 1B as well and it wouldn't let me buy it. Even when I had straight points to do so. I can't remember if I was able to but a outfield spot or catcher, but it just grayed out 1B.

Would second position 4 make it possible to complete this?
