As you may already know, when you are pitching there are only two choices that the batter will guess breaking ball and fastball. Sometimes it is wrong.

But when I played with a guy with an 80 fastball and 6 hard sinker - they would only think fastball. So I threw sinker. Yet, somehow, even the iron stones got the sinkers, perfectly guessing the break. I though for the first few times, that I was just unlucky, but this carried on through the year 2 tourney. My next though was, maybe the goggles were "broken." But when I brought on a different pitcher, the hitters started guessing breaking balls and fastballs.

My conclusion is that the sinkers, among other pitches, are considered fastballs. So no longer is 4SFB compared to any other pitch. Anyone have any support for this theory.

I've noticed this happening once before, I can't pinpoint which one of my players it was, but I did make one with a hard sinker probably 7-8 players ago and it was around that time.

Very interesting and unexpected - Japanese baseball considers the sinker an off speed pitch so I always thought only the 4SFB and 2SFB would be considered "fastballs" by the goggles.

I wonder if the code is generally broken for all pitches that move in that direction or if the pitch type is considered. It might be interesting to check on the SIFB and cutter.

Completely screwed my pitcher - I'm too reliant on the goggles. Have to scrap the entire guy, I forgot about dating Becky, too, and messed up chance at Intimidator. It's a shame, too, because he started off with 77 mph, and F control, E stamina, and both control and stamina were two points away from the next grade. The only negative was the fairly irrelevant Laziness. Damn.

Oh yeah, I remember that from your Wiki article. That was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw my guy's stats.

As I mentioned before, Damn.

Unless you consider Gd Sense/Poor Stats or Pr Sense/Gd Stats to be good, this was my best opportunity and I blew it. If I restart, I'll make sure to start off with a CB before upgrading the Sinker. And I'll make sure to concentrate and not watch Stanford beat Marquette in a great overtime game (Brook Lopez for President!) I actually want to get a guy with Pr Sense/Pr Stats, finish him and see if he gets a special title like Normal and Genius. Maybe Dumbass?

Pr Sense/Pr Stats wouldn't exist. The other starting stats with negatives have at least one positive that tempts you into playing the game. There wouldn't be a point to having a rare starting stat with two negatives on top of each other.

By the way, I think I may have had some trouble with pitchers with screwballs so that would support the theory that the Goggles' code is broken for that direction.

It's not only the sinker, i have a closer with only a hard slider 7 and a 95mph fastball and EVERTIME i pitch they say fast ball so i throw my slider, and my slider is always about 5-10 mph less, and they always get hits off me.
Anyone ever try having a pitcher with only a change-up?
Maybe it only happens to pitchers with 2 pitches

Or maybe all "hard" pitches are "fastballs". Maybe the game sees them this way because they're thrown harder then their normal counterparts.

My feelings exactly, perhaps the computer doesn't think 5mph change is a big deal....

Of course, if you step into the batting cage and pull off 5mph off a pitch... you'll be flailing at it...

As far as the sinker goes, are we talking sinking FB or a sinker? I always go sinking fastball, which seems to me at least to work either way. I can throw that pitch when the goggles say FB or BB and get a large amounts of pop ups that don't pass the pitchers mound, or weak grounders that even a track star couldn't outrun.

I don't like either slider or shuuto pitch, because the AI seems to pick them up easily. My prototype pitcher in this game would have a top end fastball, good change, a good curve, and a sinking fastball. Those are the pitches I have the most success with.

Pure Hard Sinker (H-SNK).

Changeup itself is fine. I always have only two pitches at the first game with goggles, and this was the first time the problem occured.

i'd say that the cutter ,splitter, sinking fastball, four seam fastball and two seam fastball could all be considered fastballs. maybe the "breaking fastballs" arent as effective when it says brekaing ball because they kind of break. so possibly the same thing goes for hard thrown breaking pitches (h-slider, h-shuuto, etc.). so if it expects a fastball a har thorwn breaking might still be hit.

did i explain that well enough?
