If you're confused, I shall explain. On both 360 and PS3, there are little awards (I guess you can call them that) you get for doing certain things, called achievements (for 360) and trophies (PS3). Obviously, if you own either of these consoles, you know exactly what I mean. The point of these are to try and get you to play the games longer than you normally would. With these, you have people who just don't care about them and don't pay any attention. But on the other end of the spectrum, there are people who do whatever they can to get as many of these as possible, even if it means renting really shitty games just for that purpose.

I can probably say that nobody here is quite like that. But maybe, people are that to a lesser extent. For example, I would never go out and get stupid games just for the sake of trophies, but I love trying to get them all for games I already own and love.

Bonus Question: For PS3, when you get every trophy for a game, you get a special trophy called a platinum trophy. What do you think is the highest number of platinum's that one person has collected?

Also, I really feel like I'm doing way too many video game polls, mainly because they're the easiest for me to make and talk about. Are you guys sick of them? Do you think I'm doing too many? If the answer is yes, inbox me ideas! I've had people ask me for permission to do polls, but not once has someone PM'd me ideas.

I do not

I also don't mind the video game polls. I kind of like them.

I don't care about the acheivments.

Also, I don't really care what the poll is about as long as there is one and it's not stupid.

They're fun to unlock but I don't try to get all of them.

I don't care about the video game polls.

I never really pay achievements much mind.

And I don't mind the video game polls. This is a forum about a video game after all.

I'm not good at games, I go after the Platinums that seem reasonable. Like ones that don't include trophies like "Beat the game on Impossible difficulty without being hit".

I have 5 Platinums:
Assassin's Creed II
Demon's Souls
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection
The Walking Dead
WWE Legends of Wrestlemania

I'd say The Walking Dead and WWE were the easiest, Genesis Collection was probably the hardest, and the most fun was Demon's Souls.

I've got a platinum, too. The Walking Dead, which took no effort. So that's nice.

But no, I don't hunt for achievements, too much work. If I get one accidentally, das cool den

What exactly are platinums?

I don't exactly go after achievements more than a bit, but I am a bit of a perfectionist. If I can possibly get something at 100% and it won't take me an hour to do so (or seemingly won't), I'll go for it (best exemplified by trying to 'Kill' practically all challenges in Skate 2/3).

When you get every single trophy on a PS3 game (all bronzes, silvers, and golds), you get the platinum trophy for the game.

And nobody wants to guess on the bonus question?

Try 571! I don't even know how that's possible!

I wouldn't necessarily classify myself as an addict, but I do enjoy Achievements in video games. It gives the game a sense of replay value that it normally wouldn't have without it.

I'm gonna throw an example out here. Kirby's Air Ride on Nintendo Gamecube had a built in Achievement feature in what looked like a pegboard that allows you to unlock new vehicles and colors, etc. Super Smash Bros Brawl on Wii also had a feature similar to this, and in both cases they add immense replay value to the game. So much so, I guarantee you I've logged over 150 hours in both games.

With that said, I think people put too much emphasis on Platinums and Gamerscore that you get for completing these achievements. I feel as though you shouldn't get a reputation point for completing these, but rather Unlockables and easter eggs like in the aforementioned Kirby and SSBB.
But of course, because of my perfectionism, I do try to complete every achievement, regardless of unlockables or not. Still haven't 100%'d anything yet, however, but will still be trying.
