So, one of the questions I was asked for the application for a YouTube game show I did was "what is the worst video game you ever played?" So, I wanted to know, since I'm curious, what is the worst video game you ever played?

For me, it's a little-known third party hockey game for the Wii called "Kidz Sports Ice Hockey". The controls were so clunky, and I only played that shitty game for 20 minutes before putting it on the shelf for all eternity.

I remember being tiny and trying to figure out what this all meant…why do the snakes attack you in the shop…why does the thief keep bumping into you and taking your crap. Seriously the thief was a scary thing when I was a kid. Then you fell, and died.

No instructions, nothing like the game, no idea what the items were or meant…it was unplayable, but you'd stare at the cover art and be like "yeeeeah, I can figure this out! Indiana Jones!" And then 2 hours of frustration as you fiddled with a whip that did nothing and tried to avoid the flies.

So little to do with the source material, so graphically limited, and so poorly explained…this has to be it.

PC games that are terrible:
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Run around as Frodo, controls suck, worthless
Starship Tycoon: run out of fuel immediately, crap goes wrong, unplayable mess
UFO - Extraterrestrials: a crappy re-skinned X-Com clone that does nothing to improve on 1992, despite being a 2007 game
Odium: turn-based fallout clone that sucked
Shadow Watch: I've never actually gotten this one to even run on any computer.

NES had some bad, bad games - but back in those days, even with SNES, there wasn't the internet or any real community. You played a game and it seemed terrible, but you weren't sure if you just didn't "get it" or were messing something up…so you would keep trying. I kept looking at the cover art…so exciting. Thinking about collecting the guns and gems, and I would try it again…just to fall and die or be killed by a spider. Oh god. And the music. Just…crap.

I've played a lot of bad games, here are some of my least favorite:
-The Sims 3 for the DS/Wii/PS3: TS3 is an example of a game that just can't be ported to consoles. The Wii/DS versions were dumbed down to kids, and the PS3 version is small compared to the PC versions, especially in town size. Each game was plagued with crashes, especially the wii version.

-NHL 15 for the PS4: Obviously a rushed product. EA should've just waited another year. Goalies were absoutely useless, game modes were limited (you couldn't even draft for the first month). NHL 16 was a little bit better, but not enough to erase this awful game.

-Madden 13 for the XBOX 360: Oh boy, this game left a bad taste in my mouth for a whole year until Madden 25 came out. It was the first year of the infinity engine, so the mechanics were flawed. Running the ball was nearly impossible, the game was full of glitches, online play was an absolute nightmare, connected career was a joke, ultimate team was a waste of time. Probably the worst Madden ever.

Superpower 2 for PC: A strategy game where you control your own nation. Was full of glitches and managing the economy was nearly impossible. Not to mention the utterly ridiculous wars that were started (such as Poland invading Rwanda or Burkina Faso). The game also got extremely tedious unless your only goal was to conquer every nation in the world. It is nearly impossible to play as any other country besides the USA or UK, unless you're an economics expert.

MLB 2K12, Justin Verlander. 2013 was much better.

That reminds me, MLB 2K9 for the 360 was horrendous. Filled with game breaking glitches, like this one:

The entire MLB 2K series was awful. I remember 2K13 being a carbon copy of 2K12, but with more glitches. I remember playing as the Mets vs the Tigers and I dropped a squeeze bunt, my runner was out by a mile, but the game's "physics" caused the Tigers catcher to act like a collision had taken place when my runner was only a third of the way down the line. I'll post a video of it to my YouTube channel.

I don't really play a lot of video games besides sports games, and I remember Madden 13 on the PS Vita being awful because the game was originally supposed to be released as Madden 12, but the Vita was released later than planned, or something like that. The schedule was that of 2011, and the records were of 2010. The gameplay was nice but sometimes there would be a glitch where a player's head grew out of his helmet and became pink, out of nowhere. I'll post a pic of that, too.

I was so used to 2k12 on the Wii, 2k13 was so much better on The Xbox it was ridiculous

I'm an old old guy. So I'll mostly go with NES games.
