Something I found kinda surprising was that Wii had far and away the most sales, with over 25 million more consoles sold than the other two. PS3 is in second by the very slimmest of margins due to solid leads over XBOX in Japan and Europe

I personally don't find that surprising at all. I think I said this before, but the Wii is the first console for everyone in the family. Most middle aged to senior citizens and younger kids would enjoy the Wii more than a PS3 or an XBox.

Well, compare it to the 6th gen. and the PS2 just mopped the floor with everyone. PS2 sold over 127 million units, while the original XBOX and GameCube combined for less than 50 millions units. What makes the Wii so much more family friendly than the GameCube?

Motion gaming and more family friendly games/games that have pick up and play controls.

Yeah, the Wii introduced many people to gaming. Plus it appealed to the older crowd (by old I mean seniors) because it could get them up and moving in an exciting way.

My grandmother has a Wii at her apartment complex and they bowl and everything all the time.

The DS came along, my friend.

Then the DSi and the 3DS followed.

But the DSi was nothing special and the 3D is a gimmick

I really enjoy the 3DS. It's got some great games on there.

Namely Kid Icurus, Paper Mario, Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright (soon), the remake of OoT, which is awesome. It may seem gimmicky, but it's really not.

But does the 3D enhance the gaming experience? I don't think so. The other apps and such are cool, but this and the DSi were really just updates on the DS when Nintendo could have made an all new portable gaming device.

I will admit, it is a gimmick that worked.

Some games it does, yeah. Like Professor Layton, for instance. The 3D makes the puzzles all the more entertaining.

And Super Mario 3D Land, too. The 3D allows you to find secrets in the levels.

When implemented well the 3D is great.

Well, that's pretty much with everything 3D. Some movies work 3D, but with other movies it feels like a cash grab. 3D really only works if you have lots of colors and that's something Mario games are never short on and Mario being Nintendo's flagship title the 3D can be good. I think it would have just been better if Nintendo had just seperated it from the regular DS/DSi.

If you asked my school this question it would be a landslide victory for the Xbox 360. I doubt many people still have a Wii (at my school), and I only know two people at my school with PS3's, one of whom hasn't played in months.

Which leaves about 250 XBOX people, just in the high school.
