There's a home-schooled kid on my cross country team. I can tell he's really awkward and he has trouble talking to everyone.

We didn't have GPAs in middle school.

But I got straight As, so yeah.

Also, Anthony, good luck finding a college in 3 years.

Hey, I've never been homeschooled in my life and I'm socially awkward.

Other half of brain: Why would you tell them that?!

I-I don't know. I'm stupid.

Other half of brain: We hates the humans, we hates them!

What?! No we don't!

So, as you can see, homeschooled or not, people can be incredibly socially awkward.

AgentP, I'm gonna assume that was sarcasm.

And Paul, you can go to public schools and still be awkward. But being homeschooled increases the chance tremendously.

All I'm saying is I'm not at all socially awkward. I know people, and I'm friends with a few of the most popular kids at my town's middle school.

The point is, just because I'm homeschooled doesn't mean I'm socially awkward. End of story.

Dude, just from reading your posts, we can tell you're a bit awkward. Plus, just because you're friends with the "most popular kids", that means nothing.

I knew the whole "popular kids" thing would get a reply. :P I had to read that twice, but I definitely wouldn't say he is awkward just from his posts.

That's kind of mean.

Hey, Tim Tebow was homeschooled!

I think the primary reason you see a high % of socially awkward homeschooled kids is due to their parents. Parents often choose homeschooling out of fear - fear of their child being corrupted by other kids, teachers, and religion (or non-religion). Often times, those types of parents are already socially awkward and fearful of people, and this behavior, whether genetic or conditioned, is passed along to the kids.

I'm not saying this is true in all cases, or even most cases. There are plenty of well-adjusted kids and parents who homeschool and do so for all the right reasons.

Luckily, my parents have never been socially awkward. And we have been doing this, as ED44 said, for the right reasons.

Man, I never thought Skittles would criticize me so. Oh well, I guess being an outcast is alright.

Sorry, I'm just a little upset at the moment. And it has nothing to do with this.

You see, I have basketball practice in 8 minutes and my mom forgot, so now we're in a rush.

Well, I'm completely against homeschooling, so that may be part of it.

How is homeschooling hurting you in ANY way?

I get why you wouldn't want to be homeschooled or if you had kids wouldn't want to homeschool them, but why be against other people being homeschooled?

As shitty as public schools can be sometimes, I just don't see how homeschooling is better than it

I don't really understand homeschooling either. It seems counterintuitive.

But you guys haven't been homeschooled before. I haven't either, but we can't judge it when we haven't experienced it.

There are so many different reasons to be homeschooled too. And with bullying and such, I wouldn't really blame anyone who wants to be or wants to have their kids homeschooled.
