I always turn the injury setting to "Very Low" when I play OOTP or else half of my team ends up injured.

I have it on "high" because that's "Realistic" according to the game

Season Recap: Houston Astros

It was, as expected, a poor year for the Astros. They finished 63-99, for a .389 winning percentage, good for last in the division. They did, however, lead the league in stolen bases due to an incredibly aggressive base-running approach, and many of the team’s young players got significant playing time in either Triple-A or the Majors.

Here are the final MLB standings.

Congratulations to the Red Sox on winning the 2014 World Series!

2015 MLB Draft Recap

It was a good draft for the Astros, as they got a lot of players on their board and had the #2 pick each round. The draft was scaled back to 10 rounds from the 90 of last year’s. With the first pick, Cleveland selected outfielder Parker Kelly. Now for a recap of Houston’s picks:

1st Round: Riley Ferrell, SP, TCU (Age 21, o 2.5, p 4.5) - Ferrell is by far the most MLB-ready player in the draft, and if we sign him, there is a good chance he is up in AA or AAA right off the bat. He has four plus pitches, terrific stamina, good velocity, and the ability to play a mean left field if he wants to. Ferrell signed last, with a $7.595 million bonus, and was assigned to Corpus Christi (AA), where he has been named the closer.

2nd Round: Jesús Medina, RP, Miami (FL) (Age 22, o 0.5, p 4.5) - Medina racked up 33 saves in 41 appearances over two years at Miami. He projects to have at least plus-plus stuff, including a cut fastball and changeup, but his stamina and ability to hold runners on base are concerning. Medina signed on the 12th of June with a $220,000 bonus, and was sent to Quad Cities (A).

3rd Round: Turner Larkins, SP, Mississippi State (Age 19, o 0.5, p 2.5) - Larkins, a graduate of Arlington Martin (TX) High School, pitched well for the Bulldogs last year, with a 9-4 record and 2.85 ERA in 19 starts. He projects to have decent stuff with good control, and is good at inducing ground balls. Larkins signed on June 10th with a $150,000 bonus, and was assigned to Quad Cities (A).

4th Round: Xavier Turner, 3B, Vanderbilt (Age 21, o 0.5, p 1.5) - This is the only pick where we went off the board. Turner has good speed plus the potential to be a good hitter down the road, as well as good defensive ability at the hot corner. Turner signed with a $200,000 bonus on June 9, and was assigned to Quad Cities (A).

5th Round: Rock Rucker, LF, Auburn (Age 22, o 0.5, p 1.5) - Rucker put up good numbers last season, with a .305 average and 37 stolen bases. He projects as a decent leadoff hitter with good speed and amazing defensive ability in both left and center field. Rucker signed to a $120,000 bonus along with his contract on June 14, getting assigned to Quad Cities (A).

6th Round: Brady Acton, CF, Texas (Age 19, o 0.5, p 1) - Acton was a 56th round selection by the Astros last year, and after hitting .250 with 39 stolen bases in his freshman year of college, re-entered the draft and was picked by Houston again. Brady can play all three outfield positions, as well as first base, and has good speed and range, though his hitting is questionable. Acton was assigned to Quad Cities (A).

7th Round: Shawn Fritz, C, Colorado Christian (Age 21, o 1, p 1) - Fritz, who hit .309 with 12 home runs last season, is a stellar defensive catcher with solid power and good discipline. He has absolutely no speed, and should never be asked to lay down a bunt for any reason. Fritz was sent to Quad Cities (A).

8th Round: Mitch Gasbarro, 2B, Eastern Illinois (Age 21, o 0.5, p 1) - Gasbarro was the fastest player on the board. He graded out with the highest possible speed and stealing grades. Gasbarro is also a solid second baseman. Gasbarro joined Quad Cities (A).

9th Round: Josh Sborz, SP, Virginia (Age 21, o 0.5, p 0.5) - Sborz has a good fastball in the high 90s and the potential to develop quality offspeed stuff, but his control leaves concerns. Could wind up as a good long man and emergency starter down the road. Sborz joined the rotation in Quad Cities (A).

10th Round: Josh Merrigan, 1B, Chipola (JC) (Age 21, o 0.5, p 1) - Merrigan, a transfer from Georgia State, has blazing speed and a good arm. Many believe he is best suited as an outfielder, where he could best showcase these skills. Like Gasbarro, he has 100 speed and 100 stealing. Merrigan was sent to Quad Cities (A).

I don't get the point of teams having guys that are only * and with no potential to get better.

Ferrell's fielding reminded me of when the Phillies had to put Oswalt in left field against the Astros.
