Rizzo! He's a beast in OOTP! :D

Dude, that news about Appel sucks.

I actually had a surplus of SP, but I wish I could've traded him for something valuable before he retired.

But yeah, the Rizzo move won't be my last major trade...

I was gonna criticize you for trading for Rizzo (he's untouchable), but I suppose trading Correa makes it okay

It would suck for owners if OOTP were real life. If so, every owner would be dead by 2020.

yep

oh, and a look into the future: the guys I traded for Rosscup have combined for about 100 professional plate appearances. 95 came from Hurtado. And Rosscup hasn't been all that great, but he's been a solid AAA reliever as I expected him to be.

I was looking at Hurtado's "history" page and on one day he was signed and released by at least four organizations...

I saw that you traded 3 players for Zac Rosscup and just thought "what? Is Rosscup overrated in this game or do all 3 of them suck?" Apparently the latter, but at what point did you say "I need to get rid of these three. Who can I get in return? I know! A random mediocre reliever from Chicago! That'll help!"

Is Alex Rios doing so bad that you have to play him in single A? Also, David Price, nice.

You gave me hope that you wouldn't suck this year. :(

I'm starting him in A ball, if he plays well I'll promote him. Plus, he's like 36 and in his third year of decline

Man that's just wrong. Put him in AAA at least. And if he sucks there, just cut him

why is the Alex Rios signing (to a MiLB contract, at that) getting more buzz than the David Price trade

---meanwhile, in "players who will force rios to promote or gtfo"...---

2016 MLB Draft

The Astros had the first pick, selecting Parker Kelly, who will be covered more later. The draft lasted 10 rounds, as it did last year. The draft took place in its entirety on June 6.

All Astros draftees signed and were assigned to Quad Cities (A).

Astros Recap

1st Round: INF Parker Kelly (1, 5) - Kelly, 18, played college ball at Vanderbilt, hitting .321 with a 1.039 OPS and 40 stolen bases his freshman year. Listed as a right fielder, Kelly has tremendous potential at both middle infield positions, though he can also play third, center, and right. He has blazing speed and the potential to be a quality all-around hitter for years to come. Kelly signed with a bonus of $8.5 million on June 14th.

2nd Round: 3B Nick Perez (0.5, 2.5) - Perez, 18, played at Oklahoma State. While his .291 average is ordinary by itself, Perez also drew 39 walks and hit 12 homers in 49 games at OSU. His eye is a big part of his game, and he also boasts a good glove and arm at the hot corner. He signed with a $1.6 million bonus the day after the draft.

3rd Round: 3B Zack Kesterson (1, 1.5) - Kesterson, 18, was LSU’s resident slap-hitter for the 2016 season. He batted .324 in 42 games, with adequate power, speed, and on-base numbers. Kesterson is a solid defender as well. He signed on June 8th with a million-dollar bonus.

4th Round: UTIL Ian Dukes (0.5, 1.5) - Dukes, a 19-year-old out of USF, is an interesting player. With the ability to play second base, third base, shortstop and right field, and a unique skill set, Dukes showed his immense potential in 2015 as a high school player in Bridgeport, TX, where he hit .449 with 18 steals and a 1.232 OPS in just 25 games his senior year. Dukes then became a South Florida Bull, and hit .286 with an .891 OPS, including 14 homers and 31 stolen bases, in 50 games before declaring for the draft. Dukes shows good power potential, as well as not only good speed but the smarts to succeed as a baserunner. He signed last on 6/18 with a $650,000 bonus.

5th Round: RHP Connor Manous (0.5, 1) - Manous is a straight power arm out of high school. At 17 years of age, he throws a great fastball between 99 and 101 mph on average, with the potential to develop a hammer curveball as well. Manous is likely to become a reliever, and could find himself in high-leverage situations as soon as he signs. He signed on June 10th with only a $190,000 bonus.

6th Round: INF Kobe Atkins (0.5, 1) - Atkins, 18, can play all four infield positions well. A defensive specialist, Atkins cannot be expected to hit over .200 or steal many bases, but he will serve as an excellent reserve piece.

7th Round: 1B-OF Zach Sims (0.5, 1) - Sims is 22, and profiles as a rangy outfielder with solid speed, but no bat. He has a lot of experience at first despite being the opposite of the typical slugging, lead-footed 1B.

8th Round: 1B Gunnar McNeill (0.5, 1) - McNeill, 21, is a good hitter. He has the potential to be a great power hitter, and his defense is good as well. His plate discipline, though, is horrendous. His speed, as expected, is also below-average.

9th Round: RHP Colby Wyatt (0.5, 0.5) - Wyatt, a 17-year-old out of high school, throws a decent fastball up to 100 mph. His defense and stamina are top-notch, but he has basically no offspeed stuff, with only a poor curveball. His control is also below-average.

10th Round: OF Connor Jones (0.5, 1) - Jones, 25, has good all-around potential. He has a lot of natural talent, but limited experience at any position. His age may have caused his fall to the 288th pick.
