He's drawing walks in 20.3 percent of his plate appearances!

all made out of pure need. needed a roster spot = Harrell trade. needed an outfielder = Barnes trade. the only trades not out of need are the two I made on May 1st

No it's not. Carter is a three true outcomes kinda player; Strikeout, Walk, or Homerun. This leads to a low AVG, high OBP, and normal SLG. Of course it's not this extreme, but it's only been a month, so it's a small sample size

2014 Draft Recap - Houston Astros

The Astros got good value out of their early-round picks, but wound up only signing thirteen of the 90 players they drafted. First overall pick Carlos Rodon, a 21-year-old starting pitcher, was signed with a 1.5 million dollar bonus. The Astros did sign all of their top eight picks, and stayed well under the slot budget. Following is a recap of all 13 of the players Houston signed:

SP Carlos Rodon (1st): Rodon, 21, is a lefty with 4.5 star potential. The former N.C. State pitcher signed with a 1.5 million dollar bonus.

SS Nicholas Gordon (2nd): Gordon, 18, was the first high schooler drafted by Houston. Related to former MLB pitcher Tom Gordon and Dodgers infielder Dee Gordon, Nick has 4.5-star potential and signed with a $1.2 million bonus.

RF Derek Fisher (3rd): Fisher, 20, last played at Virginia. He has four-star potential, and agreed to a one-million-dollar bonus.

RP Julian Cruz (4th): Cruz, 20, has 4.5 star potential. He had 13 saves and a 2.93 ERA in high school last season. “Doom” signed a contract with a signing bonus of $4,444,444.

RP Blake Bivens (5th): Bivens, 18, came out of high school with a four-star potential rating. Bivens agreed to a $250,000 signing bonus.

2B Rich Vardaro (6th): Vardaro, 21, has 2.5 star potential. He did not receive a signing bonus.

RP Michael Cederoth (7th): Cederoth, 21, has 3.5 star potential. With the ability to reach up to 101 MPH with his fastball, Cederoth oddly signed with no bonus.

RP Andreus Kyritsis (8th): Kyritsis, 21, signed with no bonus. He is rated as having 4 star potential, and his changeup could be one of the best pitches in all of baseball once fully developed.

3B Kevin Padlo (12th): Padlo, 18, has two-star potential. He signed with no bonus.

3B Juan Batista (14th): Batista, 21, has only 1.5 star potential but is viewed as one of the most MLB-ready players in the class. He did not receive a signing bonus.

SP Jimmy Stephens (27th): Stephens, 18, has 1.5 star potential. The high school lefty signed with no bonus.

LF Dalton Ewing (35th): Ewing, 18, has one-star potential, and signed without a bonus.

CF Colt Hobbs (41st): Hobbs, 22, has one-star overall and potential ratings, and signed with no bonus.

I made up for it by letting 77 guys go unsigned (well, technically, I released a bunch of them, since I don't need 60 scrubs populating my reserve roster, since I cut it down to just one A league and no rookie leagues)

Aiken was drafted 27th by the Braves; I almost certainly would've picked him up in the second round if he had slipped five more picks

Just cut down the draft. Since I deleted some of the minor leagues, I shorted my draft to 10 rounds

Yeah, I thought it was going to be 25 when I looked at the draft order, but it turned out to be 90. Whoops.

It seems like owners die a lot in OOTP.

hey, with an entire starting outfield having been on the DL at the same time twice this season, plus our "ace"/only veteran SP out for the season, I'm taking pride in anything at this point

For example, the fact that I am still managing to put together a full lineup for all four teams (MLB, AAA, AA, A)
