Post subject:  Cody Cole's Journey with the San Diego Padres

There I was, sitting in Ron Fowler's office, one of the co-owners of the San Diego Padres. The Padres had just demoted their previous GM, Josh Byrnes, to general managing the the AAA Tucson Padres. I had just been giving the new job of being the GM for the San Diego Padres.
My name is Cody Cole, I am 27 years old. I studied Sabermetrics all through high school and college and always had a passion for statistics. When I was 19 I went to Georgia Tech on a full-ride scholarship because of a perfect GPA through high school. Most people called me a nerd, but it had been my passion since I started taking stats when I was 7.
Anyway, I went through college, majoring in statistics, and ended up with a GM job in a Texas independent league when I was 23. After GM'ing my team's way to 2 championships in 3 years. After that I was offered a GM contract to the Padres AA team. This year I had been promoted to the MLB GM slot.
Mr. Fowler talked to me about his expectations for the season and introduced himself to me. He told me that our team should win 70 games, that was my goal for the season.

So this is going to be an MLB 14 The Show log, that has taken inspiration from DTigers's Rockies log in MVP '05. Users can design 2 players each with this information.

Cole makes first move as Padres GM

San Diego -- The Padres new General Manager, Cody Cole, made his first big move as the team's GM today bringing on rookie Japanese shortstop, Hiroyuki Nakajima. Nakajima did not play in the MLB at all for the A's last year and was waived in the offseason. Nakajima has been acquired to a 2 year 1 million dollar deal. Nakajima will be the starting shortstop for the El Paso Chihuahuas.

After their unfortunate season in 2013, the Padres are looking to rebound with their mediocre ball club. Certain stars return like Chase Headley and Carlos Quentin. Evert Cabrera is also back from a suspension last year. The Padres also acquired a few new players in Ian Kennedy, Josh Johnson, and Hiroyuki Nakajima. They also have a few returning young guns with a chance to prove themselves in 2014 in Jedd Gyorko and Yasmani Grandal. The Padrs have quite the farm system as well including starter, Casey Kelly (24), catcher, Joey Accacia (19), second baseman Mark Allison (18), third baseman Lonnie Bradshaw (22), and Willie Dickinson, the shortstop (19). The Padres are ready to prove themselves for the 2014 season.

Sorry to bother you, but I'm just curious as to when you'll be posting the stats from players not on your team? I don't want to pressure you into doing it more than you planned, I'm just wondering.

April Analysis
The Padres were very solid in the early goings of April sweeping the Dodgers to begin the season, but all went south from there after going on a 5-game skid from the 20th to the 24th. Yonder Alonso, although, batted a very solid .354 with 8 homers and 24 runs batted in through April, having an MVP caliber season. The Pads lost Cameron Maybin to a broken tibia, after he batted .357 through 6 games. Alonso is the Padres only batter with a qualifying batting average above .300. Will Venable has been the most effective batter other than Alonso, batting .260 with 5 homers and 20 RBI. Everth Cabrera, though, has stolen 15 of the Padres team total 34 bases. Yonder Alonso has 73 total bases on the season while the Padres second most is Will Venable at 48. Meanwhile, on the pitching side, Cory Luebke has been phenomenal, posting a 4-0 record through 6 starts, with a 2.36 ERA. Among the other starters, the Padres only have 6 other wins. Nick Vincent has been solid out of the bullpen with a 2.65 ERA in 17 innings pitched. Huston Street has been quite sub-par, 6 for 9 in save opportunities, and posting a 12.91 ERA. It might be time for Nick Vincent in the closer role.

Meanwhile, the AAA team, the El Paso Chihuahuas, are 14-13, anchoring 3rd in their division. Shortstops Hiroyuki Nakajima and Willie Dickinson are both expecting callups, both batting above .300 with a combined 5 homers and 29 RBI. Catcher, Michael Watson, is batting .377 in 53 AB in AAA, 10 of his 20 hits being doubles. Dickinson leads the team in homers and RBI with 4 and 17 respectively. Ace, Casey Kelly is also awaiting a callup, currently 4-0 in 5 starts with a 2.62 ERA. Tony Sipp and Jim Connifer have both been very trustworthy coming out of the bullpen posting 4 holds apiece, Sipp with a 3.00 in 9 innings, and Connifer with an 0.00 in 8 and 1/3.

Their AA San Antonio Missions are 15-11, tied in second in their division. Currently, Lonnie Bradshaw and Manny Reyna lead the team in hits with 26 each. Bradshaw is batting .329 while Reyna is batting .333. Bradshaw has 5 of the team's total 10 home runs this season and 16 RBI. Bradshaw has been the anchor in the lineup for the Missions this year and eagerly awaits a pass to the AAA Chihuahuas. Freddy Beatty and Joey Accacia have been the base stealers for the Missions this season, each 100% on base stealing attempts.

4/10 stolen bases, what are you doing, Kenneth? Stealing bases is not your game!
