June Review

June was a good month for Padres. During June, the Padres got the returns of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Nick Swisher, and Alfredo Aceves, while also unfortunately seeing Yasmani Grandal go to the 60-Day DL with a broken foot. Jacoby Ellsbury is definitely having an all-star caliber season for the Padres, batting .288 with 13 home runs and 40 RBI, slugging .516 and hitting 21 doubles and 5 triples. Jedd Gyorko and Willie Dickinson are among other Padres batters who could be featured in the All-Star game for the Padres this year. Gyorko is batting .281 with 17 home runs, 24 doubles, and 59 RBI. Dickinson is batting .274 with 14 homers, 10 doubles, and 34 RBI. On the pitching side, the Padres have dropped a bit lately. Robbie Erlin has been phenomenal for the Pads this year, going 11-2 with a 2.87 ERA. The other pitchers in the rotation with their records respectively feature: Josh Johnson (7-4 4.85), Andrew Cashner (6-4 4.62), Alfredo Aceves (5-2 3.21), and Casey Kelly (4-5 4.61). As you can see, the Padres starters have had some tough times lately. Tyler Clippard has been incredible in the closer role for the Friars though, going 32/35 through June only.

Padres bolster roster for playoff push by adding 2B Hill

San Diego -- It has just been reported that the Padres and Royals have agreed to a deal that will send Aaron Hill to the Padres for highly touted prospect, Max Fried. The Padres also acquired a RHP, Ray Berroa. The Padres also sent SP Donn Roach to the Royals.

So far this season, Hill is batting .253 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. The Royals reportedly immediately called up 20-year old Fried who made his first start today and lost to the Angels. Donn Roach is 5-8 in 18 starts in AAA with a 4.73 ERA.

What were you thinking trading Max Fried for a washed-up second baseman?

Hill is actually solid in this game. He's 85 overall and 33 years old. Plus I needed to get a 2B because we had issues in the middle infield. Also we have plenty of starting pitching prospects.

The NL won the All-Star game, 3-0. It was kinda boring, so I'm bot making an update on it. We scored on solo homers by Pedro Alvarez and Gyorko and an RBI double by Alvarez.

Alvarez was the MVP.
