This is my new project. I took the Red Sox and created/edited many players to make my new team. All of the players are based off of characters from my MSC projects or from other projects of mine. I will be releasing/trading all of the Sox' current players in order to start over completely. Roster will be posted soon, but here is a story update:

----------

"Okay, that's all. Any questions?" said a voice I vaguely recognized, but couldn't place. I seemed to have been unconscious for quite some time.

Who am I? Where am I? How did I get here? Why am I here? I thought. But nothing came out of my mouth. I blinked a few times and looked around. I saw a man in a suit sitting in a chair near me, another man wearing a T-shirt and basketball shorts across a large desk, and a woman who was typing something on a very new-looking MacBook.

"Doesn't look like you have any questions, Carson. Maybe now you'll cooperate with us?" said the sharper-dressed of the men.

"What do you mean, cooperate with you? I don't have any idea what's going on, although at least now I remember who I am."

"It's a shame you don't recognize any of us, since one of us is your new boss, one of us your new secretary, and one of us is your new assistant. You should really recognize your new assistant, since you played football and basketball against him in high school."

I looked closer at the man in the T-shirt. Oh. That's...um...Jack? Jack Allen? No, that doesn't look like him. Jack Cheese? Nope. Jack...Jackson! Jackson Berry! Now I recognize him! "You're Jackson Berry, right?" The man in the T-shirt nodded. "And you, in the suit. You're John Henry. Red Sox owner." The man in the suit nodded. "I don't recognize this lady over here, who is she?" Henry spoke. "That lady is your new secretary, Olivia Howard. You should probably recognize her too, since you went to the same high school." "Is this some sort of trap? Surrounding me with people I recognize in order to get me to agree to some ridiculously low-paying contract as a special assistant to the clubhouse manager or something like that?" "Actually, we thought these additions might help you get acclimated to your new job as General Manager of the Boston Red Sox." "Are you telling me that you fired Cherington, knocked me unconscious, somehow got me to sign the contract, and also hired at least two people who are fairly close to me in the process?" "That is all true. In addition, we got Cherington to sign off on a load of transactions. In fact, Ms. Howard here is typing up the updated list as we speak." "Let me look at that list," I said as I struggled to get up from the floor, pushed past Henry, and took a glance at the computer. I saw the first few moves and was immediately angered. "You released David Ortiz? Dustin Pedroia? Jacoby Ellsbury? Are you kidding me? What if one of our rivals signs them?" "Look further down the list, to the players we've signed." Olivia scrolled down and I saw some of the notable additions. "Pete Grossman. Tim Cormier. Tucker Davis. Peter Smith. Jayson McDougal. So many of these guys seem familiar. How were you even able to sign these guys without anyone else noticing? And...Matthew Harris? You signed my own brother? I give up. I'm in. Whatever. I don't like this strategy, but I want to keep these guys safe, and I certainly don't trust you, Mr. Henry, to do such a thing. Especially after you knocked me out and cut the faces of this franchise in order to sign a full roster of teenagers. Just let me go back home and get some rest. Some natural rest, not anesthetic-produced rest." "That's the problem, you don't have a home anymore. We rushed you out of there as soon as we got word that police were coming to investigate a possible murder...in your own backyard." "I wouldn't be surprised if you told me I was the accused killer." "Actually, no, they found the killer and everything, but they had to destroy most of your former house to find him and all the evidence they needed. Luckily they agreed to give you a $50,000 reward for helping find him or something like that. However, you currently have nowhere to live. You'll have to find a home with someone for at least a few nights."

After a long discussion with Jackson, he agreed to let me stay at his apartment for $10 a night. I thanked him, then went to the police department and then the bank to collect my $50K reward. I might be able to buy my own place with this money if I get lucky... I got to Jackson's apartment with only the Nike drawstring bag I had with me earlier at home, which had my cell phone, laptop, a notebook and pen, chargers, and what I least expected to find, a full change of clothes. It was almost as if I had sensed that I needed such things, even though I had been planning on just playing NBA 2K13 all afternoon. I wondered how I had known to do something like that...I emptied the contents of my bag onto the spare bed in Jackson's rather spacious apartment. "You live here alone, with 2 bedrooms and all this space?" I asked him. "I live here alone, yeah, but I have a lot of friends come through town that need a place to stay but can't afford a hotel, so I rent out the spare room for a fee similar to yours." "Wow, I would never think to do something like that. I never really got to talk to you much while we were both in school, but you're a good guy, Jackson. And did I hear you were my assistant GM? I never knew you were into baseball." "Are you kidding? I may not have played baseball, but I love to watch and analyze the sport. Plus when the owner told me he was going to sign all these guys like Simon Young and all my old friends from school, I was hooked on the job." "I'm not quite sold on the job yet, and I'm really not sure about the owner, what with being drugged by him and all." "I guess that would feel weird," Jackson said. "Anyways, it's almost 10. You may want to start unpacking, because it's going to get late real quick." I got out my chargers and plugged my phone and laptop into the wall plug, and put my notebook and pen into a drawer. I laid out the clothes I had managed to pack - a Red Sox T-shirt, my lucky yellow and green striped boxers, a pair of red boardshorts, a pair of socks, and some silver basketball shorts. Seems like more than just luck that I managed to put a full outfit in the bag...I went and took a shower and put on the boxers and basketball shorts, and went to sleep.

You don't recognize any of those names?

And the roster was posted, if that's what you're looking for. They're all "fake" players I suppose, although their names, abilities, personalities, etc. aren't random at all.

"We tried but Pedroia, Ortiz, and Napoli were all asking for too much. What's our plan now?"
"I think we should just go on with our current roster. I guess we have to let our guys know who's getting sent down and all, though."
"I have a plan. Let's work out our roster and then I'll tell the guys."
"Wouldn't I, as the manager, usually do that?"
"Well, yeah, but I know most of them personally."
"I see, I suppose that's a good reason. So what are some particular areas of interest, roster-wise?"
"The bullpen and infield are big on our list."
"Well, we know Kelly and McDougal - the lefty - are on the roster as our 8th and 9th inning guys. Before the games, I thought we would keep those two, plus Jake Jones, Michael Cooper, Frank Grossman, and Scooter Thompson."
"But Jones did terrible, and Grossman and Thompson only had decent springs."
"But we do agree that we should pencil in Cooper?"
"Yeah. What about the infield?"
"Well, Grossman, Bell, and Brown are starting. We're putting both Lowe and Wallace on the roster, but neither as a full-time starter, at least for now. Griffin is also penciled in as a corner infielder."
"I'd like to keep Gray or Cooper, they were on fire this spring."
"Well, we can discuss this later. I have to go to a meeting with the owner."
"Oh. I guess I'll see you around 8?"
"Sure."

----------

Please share your thoughts on the roster; also, agents are allowed - 2 per person.

"Let's get the easy decisions out of the way first."

I called Tanner Hill, Jake Jones, and Reid Johnson into my office.

"I'm sorry to tell you that you have all been assigned to AAA."
Reid nodded, shook my hand, and left. Tanner started to say something, but reconsidered and thanked me for the chance. Jake, despite his 6.75 ERA, clearly thought he deserved a MLB spot.
"Are you kidding me? I struck out 7 guys in 8 games! I bet you're keeping Frank up, or that sidearm guy...They can't strike anyone out!"
"Jake. It's not just about strikeouts. It's about getting outs, and not giving up too many runs or hits. You gave up a lot of hits and runs in those 8 appearances, and that's why we're sending you down. I do think you have some promise in the future, but right now you need to go work on some stuff in the minors."
"Whatever. Don't come crying to me when one of those guys gives up a walk-off."
Jake gave me a final glare, then turned and walked out the door, slamming it on his way out.
I shook my head, then called the catchers into my office.

"Dan, Andrew, Brent, 2 of you have made our MLB roster, but one of you unfortunately will be in AAA to start the season."
None of the catchers seemed to take issue with this.
"Andrew, I am pleased to tell you that you have made our roster!"
He smiled, thanked me, and walked out.
"Dan, you know we trust your natural talent. However, Brent outperformed you in spring training. We did decide to keep only one of you, and that is...Dan! Good luck in Triple-A Brent, we know you'll do well."
Dan and Brent shook hands with each other, and then me, and both walked out of the office.
That went well, unlike sending down Jake. His attitude may become a problem...

I called our starting infielders in: Pete Grossman, Brett Bell, Dylan Brown, Matt Lowe, and Nick Wallace.
"Sit down guys, I have some good news for you. You have been selected as our starting infielders! Nick and Matt, you will be alternating at shortstop until we can adequately determine a full-time starter."
Brett, Dylan, Matt and Nick shook my hand and left, but I told Pete to wait.
"Pete, you've been selected as team captain for the 2013 season!"
"Wow, thanks! It's been a dream to play for the Sox, but captain? I can't believe this is really happening."
"Yeah, we figured you could bring some great leadership to our team. Oh, and can you call in the outfielders?" He shook my hand, thanked me again, and walked out.

Shortly, our outfielders walked in - Tim Cormier, Colt Grossman, Isaiah Hightower, Jack Gray, Tucker Davis, and Shane Gomes.
"I'm going to get straight to the point. 5 of you made the roster, unfortunately we have to send one of you down to AAA. It was a tough choice, but we chose to option Tim down."
Tim was clearly disappointed. "I respect that decision. You know I'm going to go down and work harder than ever. Good luck, guys." With that, he walked out.
"Tucker, Isaiah, you are our starters in right and center field. Jack, Shane, and Colt, you will all get some starts in left, as well as backup duty and occasional starts in center and right. Good luck. Oh, and will one of you call in Will Griffin, Nate Gray, Josh Cooper, Josh Adams, and Trent Mitchell in?"

A few minutes later, the 5 infielders came in.
"Have a seat, guys. My assistant, Jackson Berry, and the manager have been discussing our roster, and we have decided to keep just one of you. It was definitely hard to send some of you down, but we're sure you'll do well in the minors. Congratulations to Will, as he has made the major-league roster! Josh, Trent, Josh, Nate - it was hard deciding to option you to AAA, but we trust you'll do well and we may look into calling some of you up sometime this season." They all shook my hand, thanked me, and the others wished Will good luck as he gave them high-fives. "Also, Will, can you send in the rest of the pitchers?"

I waited a few minutes and looked back over my notes about our pitching staff. Finally, the pitchers other than Jake and Tanner started to come into the office.
"It's a little small...Oh well, we shouldn't be here long. If you noticed, Jake and Tanner aren't here. We already informed them that they would be pitching in Triple-A to start the season. In addition, we have decided to assign two of you down with them. But first, here's our starting rotation. Our Opening Day starter will be Simon, followed by Matthew, Matt, Tyler, and Reese. Congratulations."
The starters high-fived each other, thanked me, wished the relievers good luck, and left.
"Jayson and Josh had the best springs of any pitchers, and it was a tough call to choose one over the other as our closer, but at least to start the season, Jayson will close, with Josh as our top set-up option."
Jayson thanked me and left, then Josh shook my hand, said "thank you" and walked out as well.
"In addition, we have decided to keep Michael and Heath Cooper, Adam McDougal, and Jared Jones. Scooter and Frank, you will be our 8th and 9th inning guys in AAA. Good luck."

Most of the pitchers thanked me, and once they left, I was finally able to relax for a while. I was concerned with our pitching depth, so I called an agent who gave me his business card once. "Hello, is this Tommy Weaver?" The person on the other end laughed. "so Tweav's been giving out my number again" "I guess so...This is Carson Harris, GM of the Red Sox. I was looking to sign some pitchers, I don't know if you would be able to help with that..." "no but i can refer you to another guy i know, his name is Peter Silberman" "Not the guy from The Antlers? They're one of my favorite bands!" "yeah he went all jay-z and became an agent here's his number 555-7771" "Thanks, I'll call him." "swaggy bear" "What?" "ambietn!!!" "Um..."

I decided to hang up, and call Silberman. He picked up on the first ring. "Hello?" "Hi, this is Carson Harris, GM of the Boston Red Sox. I heard you became a baseball agent?" "Yeah, after Hospice, I started feeling like I needed to do something else for a while so I got certified as an agent. I only have one client though." "We're interested in pitching..." "Perfect! He's actually a starting pitcher, by the name of Kyle Waldrop." "Oh yes, from the Twins organization?" "Yeah, that's the one. He's a free agent now." "We're interested in signing him..."

Talks went on for a while, but we were able to secure Waldrop. He was told to report to AAA. We also added Yusmeiro Petit to the PawSox rotation.

Why isn't Adrian Wesley on the roster?

Opening Day

Boston Red Sox (0-0) - Simon Young (MLB debut)
New York Yankees (0-0) - C.C. Sabathia

Yankee Stadium

The Sox opened this game with a big 2nd inning, including homers by Pete Grossman and Isaiah Hightower, but the Yankees scored 7 runs in the 4th and 5th innings off of starter Simon Young (0-1), who faced the first 8 batters of the New York lineup without a single batter reaching base. Grossman and designated hitter Josh Cooper were each 3-for-4, but it wasn't enough as they failed to score after that 2nd inning. Mariano Rivera retired the side on 3 pitches, including a double play, for his 609th career save.

Thanks!

Sorry I haven't been updating this - I was out of town and thought I could write another story update, but I never had the time to.

Also, NCAA Football 14 may keep me busy for a while, but I'll try to get that story update written soon...

lol

Still working on it, I don't have much time though, as I'm at school from 8:45 to 6, and outside of that I have about 5 hours, but I spend most of it doing other stuff (catching up on what I missed while I was at school, checking social media, etc.)

I'll try to get that update out before the end of September...I suppose that's a realistic goal.

Well, it took me 3 months, but here you go...

I woke up and looked around, confused at what I saw. This isn't my house...

I heard footsteps, and the door opened. "Rise and shine, dude!" said someone, who I assumed was talking to me. I tried looking at this person, and I finally recognized him. "Jackson? What are you doing here? Is this a dream?" "Did the owner drug you again? No, you're staying with me for a while, since your house got destroyed." "Oh, yeah. I forgot for a few minutes but now I remember. So, what's for breakfast?" "I was thinking we might go down to this place I know. They have really good waffles, and bacon, and...well...really good everything." "Sounds good. I'll put on my shirt and socks. Maybe we can go get some clothes later?" "Yeah, you're gonna need more than one outfit, unless you plan on doing laundry every day." I shuddered at the thought, and put on my Red Sox T-shirt, socks, and shoes. "Let's go!" Jackson looked at me. "You don't have a car, do you?" I asked. "No, but I have another way. I hope you know how to skateboard. Otherwise, you're walking..." "I guess you'll have to teach me later. I'll walk for now." "Okay. One second though, I have to find my wallet. I've got a bunch of gift cards and stuff." "Alright, but I'm getting really hungry." "Dude, the place is right around the corner! We'll be there in no time."

It took a while, but we finally left - Jackson decided he would walk to the restaurant, but skateboard down to the shopping center. We walked in, and several people waved or said hi to Jackson. Our waitress came by. "Oh, hello, Jackson. And who is your friend here?" "I'm Carson. I'm...in town for work, I suppose." "Well, what'll it be for you boys?" Jackson ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and a glass of milk. I ordered the same. We got our food, and started eating. "This is really good!" I said. "I know. I go here usually at least twice a week. Plus it's so close to the apartments that I can walk or skateboard over." We finished and got our bill. "I'll pay," Jackson said. "No way dude, let's at least split the bill." We each paid $5.38 towards the bill. "Where to now?" I asked. Jackson got on his skateboard. "I'll show you, follow me!" With that he took off down the sidewalk. I jogged to catch up with him, and walked the rest of the way. Finally, we reached the shopping center. "Wow, that's huge!" "Yeah, and what's even better is that I get a 10% discount on everything, and I have some gift cards." "Cool, let's go find a map so we can pick where to go!" I ran over to a directory and grabbed a portable map. Jackson and I looked at the map on the board for a while, and decided to go to the back of the shopping center first, then work our way back, finishing with a snack at the Dunkin' Donuts or lunch at the Subway, both of which were right by the entrance. We started off toward the back - me on my feet and Jackson on his skateboard. I looked at the map and saw that there were Nike, Under Armour, and Converse outlets where we were headed, and an Apple store toward the back as well. I found another stand with maps and picked one up for myself. I circled some stores with a pen to indicate where I wanted to stop, like Hanes, Jockey, and Levi's. Jackson told me to circle the Fruit of the Loom, Gap, and the places we were thinking about eating at. We went back to the Converse store first, but neither of us saw anything there. We then went into the Under Armour store. I didn't get anything, but Jackson bought red and green tank tops, matching basketball shorts, and a pair of gray compression shorts. I went over to the Nike store and bought a plain red T-shirt, a navy Red Sox shirt, a pair of red basketball shorts, and eight pairs of socks. We went on down the row to the Apple store, and I bought a pair of earbuds. Jackson and I decided to split up, with each of us going to the stores we wanted to go to, and meet up back at the entrance to figure out where to eat. I stopped in the Hanes store first, and bought a 5-pack of blue plaid boxers. I went into the Jockey store and bought a 4-pack of assorted plaid boxers. After that, I walked down to the Levi's store. I bought 6 pairs of relaxed-fit jeans and 4 pairs of straight-fit jeans, and went down to the entrance. I sat down on a bench to wait for Jackson, and started playing on my phone. A few minutes passed by, and Jackson finally came out of the Gap store. He had several bags in his hands. "What'd you get, a whole wardrobe?" I asked him. "I'm the one who needed the clothes, not you," I said as I poked at his chest. "Chill, I just got some stuff for myself and a little bit for Simon...He's one of my best friends, and he pitches for our team." "Oh, okay...Where do you want to eat? It's only 11, so we could really go to either place."

We decided on the Subway, since it was about lunchtime anyways. Jackson got a 6-inch with just turkey, pepperjack cheese, and tomato. I got a footlong with roast beef, cheddar cheese, banana peppers, lettuce, and tomato. I offered to pay for lunch, which came out to be around 12 dollars. We ate, and then headed back to the apartments.

When we got there, the manager told us that there had been a water leak, and the entire building was shut down, except for the lobby. We decided to just relax in the lobby area, and hoped that they would be able to fix the leak quickly.

TO BE CONTINUED
