Eh, Michael Young's been playing pretty solid as of late, but he is kind of old. So we could look into one.

That, or you could check out the trade market/wait until FA also.

Yeah, I have been looking at some good prospects at 3B, Mike Olt, Patrick Leonard, and Renato Nunez. I'd also like to try getting Nolan Arenado from the Rockies with a trade.

"So, I was fiddling around with some other GM's and trade offers, and the Blue Jays said they would take Chase Utley, who is in quite a slump recently, for R.A. Dickey, Mauro Gomez, and Marcus Stroman. Two solid prospects and a star, for a used-to-be-star. I think that's a great trade, boss!"

"It certainly is quite the perplexing offer."

"Yes! It is. We sure can rob quite a bit from the Jays, because they'll take Ryan Howard for Anthony Gose, Marcus Stroman, and another prospect of who I can't think of at the moment. Obviously, if we complete the first trade first, Stroman won't be in the Howard deal, so we can look for other prospects on the team."

"Ok, Lance, well, we'll definitely keep in touch with the Blue Jays on those offers."

Well I'd take the second deal for Howard, simply because Ruf can take his place and you can still pick up Stroman + a nice extra OF option in Gose. Dickey I wouldn't want if you're selling because he's old and especially since you're giving up Chase. I guess you could flip him to someone else for more prospects if you wanted to.

Although I am wondering if you should wait longer because then you can build up trade value for them (if you do see the Phils as complete sellers).

Bass shuts down Phils as Pads cruise to victory

San Diego Padres (13-18) @ Philadelphia Phillies (19-13)

In the top of the first, it looked good for Philly as J-Roll led the game off with a single. He then, got picked off, and Bass blanked them the rest of the inning. The Pads didn't do anything in the first either. In the fourth, Ruiz got a one-out single. Howard then singled, making it first and second with one away. Utley flew to deep center and Ruiz was thrown out tagging up. In the top of the sixth, Carlos Quentin walked with two outs. The next batter, Jesus Guzman, belted a 2-R homer, his 2nd of the year, making it 2-0 Padres. Nothing else happened the rest of the game, as Anthony Bass finished the shutout.

W: Anthony Bass 2-2
L: Cliff Lee 4-2
S: N/A
HR: Jesus Guzman (2)

Notables
Jesus Guzman 1-4 HR (2) 2RBI R
Delmon Young 1-3

May 18th

I woke up a tad bit sore. It was 9:17 AM. I decided to go downstairs, because I was obviously hungry. I got some Cheerios out and poured them in my bowl, without milk, just how I like it.

I decides to start reading some of the fan comment cards that I had, but never read. I brought about 300 of them home, and was bored, so I thought, hey, I guess I'll read some of these.

I noticed that a majority of the cards were fans complaining about $296 being a little too much for a signed baseball bat. I decided to call up our price coordinator, Ray Hobbs.

"Hey, Ray, I was reading some of the fan comment cards, and they say $296 is too much for a signed bat. What do you think?"

"I think it's actually not enough, if those guys are going to complain, we might as well bump the price up!"

"Good idea! Let's raise it to $304, Phillies fans aren't complainers."

Today, May 19, 2013, the Phillies and Cardinals have announced a 5-player trade. The Cardinals acquire Chase Utley and CF Jiwan James and the Phillies get 1B Matt Adams, 2B Kolten Wong, and RF Oscar Taveras.

Utley is batting .220 with 5 HR's so far this year. Jiwan James is batting .250 through 34 games in AAA.

The stat line for the new Phillies includes Matt Adams batting .241 with 1 homer through 41 games in AAA, Kolten Wong batting .292 in 7 AAA games, and Oscar Taveras batting .359 with 1 home run in 13 AAA games.

Umm, what? Since when is Utley worth three top prospects? Especially Taveras, who is probably the top prospect in baseball.

Well, even if it's unrealistic, I liked the way you went about the trade. Gives the Phillies some nice young prospects to make the next core out of. Heck, you might even be able to re-sign Chase in the offseason (unless this is by 2012 contracts). I'm interested to see what your next move is..
