Probably to trade Howard away. When I play games, Howard can't seem to do anything. And when I put in Laynce Nix or Darin Ruf, they explode.

Heck, Darin Ruf got a pinch-hit walk-off homer a couple games ago.

I am wondering though, why the four-year contract for Alex Gonzalez? He's 35 in 2012 and unless he's being flipped for more prospects I don't get the extension.

Watching Adams, Cesar, Galvis, Biddle, Taveras, Wong, J.P. and etc. come up should be fun.

Yeah, I just called up Taveras actually because he's B overall with A potential. He's not in the lineup but expect to see him pinch hit in this game update.

Miami Marlins (26-26) @ Philadelphia Phillies (28-24)

There wasn't much scoring in this ballgame until the fourth when Rob Brantly singled home Placido Polanco from third making it 1-0 Marlins. Carlos Ruiz led off the bottom half of the fifth with a line drive single. The next batter Delmon Young clobbered a homer to center, his 7th of the year, to make it 2-1 Phillies. In the top of the eighth, with one out, Chris Coghlan walked and Rob Brantly singled to make it first and second with one away. Donovan Solano then doubled to score both runners taking the lead again, 3-2 Miami. In the bottom of the eighth, Freddy Galvis grounded to center for a single to extend his hitting streak to 9 games. Jake Diekman was then pinch-hit for by top prospect, Oscar Taveras. Taveras grounded into a fielders choice, but would get a running opportunity at first base. Ben Revere then got a bunt single making it first and second, one out. Domonic Brown then struck out. The next batter Michael Young, bashed a 2-R double to right center to take another lead, 4-3 Phils. Jonathan Papelbon was brought in for the save opportunity. Juan Pierre began the inning with a single to right field. The next batter, Placido Polanco, was beaned, first and second, no outs. Giancarlo Stanton singled to right to score Pierre as Polanco advanced to third, 4-4. Logan Morrison then walked, bases loaded, no outs. The next batter, Chris Coghlan, tripled home all three runs making it 7-4 Marlins. Adeiny Hechavarria would fly out to center a couple batters later to score Coghlan making it 8-4 Marlins. With 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, things were looking bleak for Philly with Rollins at the plate. J-Roll did reach on a bunt single, but the next batter, Freddy Galvis popped up to Solano to end the game. 8-4 Marlins.

Philly nabs 2B prospect from Yanks for Quintero

On June 2nd, 2013, it has been announced that the Phillies and Yankees have agreed to a trade that will send veteran catcher Humberto Quintero to the Yankees. In return, the Philadlephia Phillies acquired prospect 2B Corban Joseph.

When we asked GM Lance Sharp why he made this move he said, "After trading away Utley, we lack in the second base department. We have some prospects though, including Galvis, Wong, and Hernandez.

So far, Corban Joseph is batting .318 with 4 homers and 26 runs batted in through 49 AAA games.

Nicely done. You did a good job of getting somebody for a third catcher. And adding to the 2B mix isn't too bad even if Joseph isn't that big a name.

I didn't realize it, but Joseph is currently better than Galvis. I'm thinking about platooning them.

Phillies, Prospects Assemble!

Today, June 13th, 2013, the Phillies and Marlins have announced a trade. The Phillies send 1B Laynce Nix to the Miami Marlins for prospects LF Christian Yelich and SP Andrew Heaney.

Lance Sharp said that he feels the Phillies will easily be a top playoff team in 2014-2015 with this huge band of prospects he's been acquiring.

Yelich has not played a AAA game this year. Andrew Heaney has put up a 1-2 record and a 5.56 ERA in AAA this year.

Laynce Nix is sporting a .294 batting average with 3 home runs and 10 runs batted in.

Zero, you really need to stop ripping off the AI. Just because you can make a trade, doesn't mean you should. Why would the Marlins ever accept that trade?
